Bronchiestatis and tiredness

Posted by gaylesunflower1 @gaylesunflower1, Mar 21, 2021

Happy Sunday Everyone. I found that one of my triggers for sob is cold weather so other than the 3 days I go to work I stay home. Thank God for spring - finally able to leave house and go to church today. Trying to learn how to live a good life with this condition. One of my concerns is my tiredness. There are days when I don't feel tired at all then there are days when I am so tired. Does anyone else feel this way and what do you do to manage it. Thanks in advance for your comments

Now that Spring is arriving (at least in some parts of the country) is everyone anxious to get outdoors? I'm thinking of you, @ess77, @irene5, @gaylesunflower1, @windwalker, @thomason, @thumperguy, @toni1132...
Between bronchiectasis and pollen allergies, I'm not necessarily at my finest in this season, and fatigue tends to sneak up on me.

How do all of you handle that sudden "I'm done!" feeling when there is so much more you want/need to accomplish today? Short of dropping onto the couch for a snooze, what can Keep you going for a few more minutes or another hour?

Hi Sue and Happy Spring to you. Fatigue is my worst enemy. Sometimes I can push through things and sometimes I just can't. I also have degenerative disc disease so walking or standing for too long a period of time increases the pain in my back. I just do what I can - I rely on God's strength to do what He needs me to do. Hopefully when Ohio gets in the 80's I can go and lay in the sun while reading or doing puzzles. I will also take short walks around where I live. I have learned to listen to my body - it is usually pretty good at letting me know how much energy it is going to give me

@sueinmn Perseverance and a GSD puppy! I’d rather be on the couch catching up on “A Million Little Things” or “ The Resident”Sue, but I made a decision to MOVE no matter how hard that may be! We had to put our beloved GSD down last week, and trust me - there is nothing like a puppy to get you out of bed and keep you going that extra mile to get things accomplished. Mornings are painful, but I think, for us, it was a good decision. MAC and sarcoid have taken enough from my husband and me! It is about having a goal Sue that makes all the difference! @irene5

I have become, for the first time since simultaneously working wand going to college, a person who naps. If I have a busy day, I try to nap for 30 minutes before supper. If I have a "walking in wet cement" day, sometimes I sleep for an hour or a little more in the afternoon. I find better rest lying flat than in a recliner.
Like some of you, I get help with some of my heavy tasks like digging and hauling. Today it was pretty warm, so my neighbor and I pruned one winter damaged citrus tree and cut/pulled just one 4x4 patch of a damaged succulent.
My daughter has temporarily moved into our northern home and has made it her mission to get the whole yard spring cleaned . What a great help!

@irene5 I'm so sorry about the puppy. I had to do the same with my puppy and haven't gotten another fur-baby. I have my Samantha, a stray kitty who adopted me several years ago. We've had quite a life together. It's so different with a kitty, there are days I can't bend over enough and use my hands to dig and clean the litter. I don't like it, but I am allowing myself a free day if needed.

So much better than the several walks daily. What to do on my really down days.....so, my body really needs to NOT have a dog even if my heart does. Still need the rest. Sue, I have to get over my mother's training. Only get in be at bedtime, unless very ill. She really taught me well. Interesting, she never rested on or in bed or lying down, only in a recliner.

Well, I'm heading to bed, it's bedtime! Blessings and good-night. Elizabeth

Her sister, brother-in-law and nephews have first claim on her precious spare time, and we are second in line. By the time she finishes helping us, we have worn her out.

Everyone is correct...everyone is priceless...for sharing their private thoughts...and physical solutions. Yes we are subject to our human nature; including our illnesses and/or disabilities. What we DO have as compensation for these troubles, are our abilities to circumvent. Most all of the participants here offer good examples. Then...comes moments of reckoning. Last Wednesday, at my ID doc monthly visit, my hubby accompanied me. I thoughtfully and seriously asked this question (already very aware of the answer thanks to research) for my husband to “hear from the expert in the room”...”what is the CURE rate for this condition-MAC?” He answered...”we do not speak of CURE. We work with improvements...and helping the patient feel better...” so again (knowing the answer) I ask...but if you had to put numbers on a page...what would you record for “improvement that appears like a cure?” Well, he says, somewhere in the 40% range. The issue is reinfection after a period of culture conversion.

Thank you, I said. I needed my husband to understand that persons with conditions like these...are to deal with the reality of our physical, emotional, environmental, the whole ball of wax...consequences. We may have good periods, bad periods, or just times of pause...during existence. The beauty is what we can do with our attitudes and performance in front of those we love. Appraisal of the truth, with acceptance and or determination to be the best we can be during this course...and continuation of sharing (like on this forum)...makes us priceless individuals.
Thanks to all.

Yes, I also get tired. I use to run but now walk. And that helps a lot to do as much as you can exercise wise. Do what you can. Yoga help and walking up steps. Take it easy but keep pushing yourself reasonably. H
