Let’s Go Walking! Join me for a virtual walking support group

Posted by Becky, Volunteer Mentor @becsbuddy, Feb 19, 2020

Many of you living with cancer or an autoimmune disease, like me, deal with daily fatigue. You know that exercise is so important to your health, but it’s so hard. There’s always an excuse: it’s too cold or hot, it’s going to rain or it’s raining, or it’s snowy and icy, or I just don’t want to. I, too, have all these excuses, but I have a new rescue dog who wants to go out and who doesn’t care about my excuses! And I’ve got traction devices for my boots. Now I just need a walking group who will keep me accountable. People who say, ‘let’s go for a walk.'

And I thought: What about my virtual friends on MayoClinicConnect?

Mayo Clinic has an easy 12-week walking program to get us started! Here’s the link:
- Get walking with this 12-week walking schedule https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/get-walking-with-this-12-week-walking-schedule/

So let’s form a virtual walking group. We can agree to walk every day and encourage each other through Connect. We can walk outdoors, in a mall, or in the red center, or in the hallways of our apartment building.

Who’s in? Who’s going to join me?

Come on, Let’s Go Walking!

Mine are from phone too and posting is better today for me. No error messages today.
Search feature isn't working good though. when I switched your words around it let me type in Effexor. That seems odd to me But it still brings up how’s that have nothing to do with what I’m asking about.

We will have to ask for a Mayo Connect App next 🙂

Jake @jakedduck1 - I think your phone might be doing autocorrect on what you type. Just did this search and found results.

Yep looks like this is what's happening.
It auto corrected in text & email but if Effexor is preceded by another word it doesn't happen here, test or email.
Does this mean I have disable autocorrect to come on connect?

@jakedduck1 I am not a big fan of autocorrect so that is what I would do. I think you have an android device...right?

Nope, I have an iPhone but I think I can turn it off. But things don't usually turn out very well when I think, lol

Hi @Erinmfs and @jakedduck1, thanks for the observations about the upgrade improvements. We're still working out the bumps, so your comments help. I've answered your questions and comments in this discussion:
- Mayo Clinic Connect is back online: Welcome back! https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/591551/

Now, let's get back to walking! My step count needs a boost today. How about yours?

I am going to use you to see if this post works ...I know you are dying to know what we ate this weekend....I will post under Healthy Living....and @Erinmfs...did you ever resolve the email question. If not....search for the group you want to follow and there are 3 dots in the bottom right hand corner that give you the option to receive emails for that particular group. Once you are following and decide not to receive any more emails...click on the 3 dots again to stop the emails.
I am doing this on my desk top....my Ipad works ok too but have not tried anything on my samsung galaxy yet. Well get use to it and, like anything new, there will be glitches.

@imallears, I appreciate any comments you have and glitches you may find with the upgrade to Mayo Clinic Connect's website. Please post them here: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/mayo-clinic-connect-is-back-online-welcome-back/

As you said, there's bound to be glitches and there are. We're working at getting them ironed out.
