Let’s Go Walking! Join me for a virtual walking support group
Many of you living with cancer or an autoimmune disease, like me, deal with daily fatigue. You know that exercise is so important to your health, but it’s so hard. There’s always an excuse: it’s too cold or hot, it’s going to rain or it’s raining, or it’s snowy and icy, or I just don’t want to. I, too, have all these excuses, but I have a new rescue dog who wants to go out and who doesn’t care about my excuses! And I’ve got traction devices for my boots. Now I just need a walking group who will keep me accountable. People who say, ‘let’s go for a walk.'
And I thought: What about my virtual friends on MayoClinicConnect?
Mayo Clinic has an easy 12-week walking program to get us started! Here’s the link:
- Get walking with this 12-week walking schedule https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/get-walking-with-this-12-week-walking-schedule/
So let’s form a virtual walking group. We can agree to walk every day and encourage each other through Connect. We can walk outdoors, in a mall, or in the red center, or in the hallways of our apartment building.
Who’s in? Who’s going to join me?
Come on, Let’s Go Walking!

@jude07 Did you get the stitches out? You may have a slow start to walking—you don’t want to undo all that’s been done. Start slow and then join us!
It’s a beautiful day for walking, but a little cool. The daffodils are up and the trees are starting to bud. I just love looking at all the newness! The dog and I got in long walks today and yesterday. Felt so good. How about you—where have you walked to?
I got my stitches out today, and don’t have to wear the hard shoe in the shower or to bed any longer, yippee. However, I do need to wear it for another week and can put pressure on my foot and walk but not very far. You are right!
Thanks for the concern.

I haven’t walked anywhere except around my house. I was planning on going back to the duckpond and walking around it a couple of times and of course feed the 🦆duckies🦆 but I have to wait for some medicine from a compounding pharmacy that has to be kept cold. Doing stinkin housework instead. Can't find a domestic engineer to help me. (ok, do it for me) Any volunteers???

Pay my airfare and I will do it. I will even throw in an ordinary meal for you....pot roast...chili etc. I am very organized, detail oriented and neat...sounds like a job interview. Even your kitchen will be sparkling and I will probably rearrange some furniture while I am at it and maybe spruce up the decor if it needs it.
Walked 2.7 miles today before gym class...that’s 3 walks this week...have to get out earlier because the temps are starting to creep up. When it’s really hot I wait until just daybreak to head out.
I am waking up earlier now...taking me this long to adjust to daylight savings change.

I'm a computer engineer, but I can domestic engineer too! I get all my ideas from the internet though, and I'm not good at cleaning really, I can cook
Yesterday I went & visited my duckie friends and walked around the lake (1.3 miles.) Plan was to walk around twice but started hurting. Been to lazy lately.
@jakedduck1 Hello, Jake. They named after you? You them? Could do worse.....just lost a whole message! Grumpy. Off to bed 'cause it's too late now and will re-write it tomorrow. All be good.....if you must.

That’s a beautiful picture, Leonard! Especially the water.
So, has Spring sprung by you? I can see little bits of green buds on the trees and all the daffodils are up. I’ve got to get moving and get out walking! May be the only warm day all week. Where will you walk today and how much candy will you carry?!
