I'll say a prayer for you friend. Your symptoms read similar to a stroke. My wife experienced these symptoms upon awaking one morning in May 2011. She has since had at least 7 more strokes and is currently in the hospital undergoing rehab and further testing. Her neurologist is thinking vascultis and auto-immune disease. I am uncertain in your case because my wife's stroke was very apparent upon arriving at the ER. I suggest trying another hospital and please let us know what you learn. You could save a life...even your own. May GOD bless you and good luck.

Please..not having insurance will not prevent you from getting the care that you need. All 'for-profit' hospitals have some kind of government subsidy which means by law they "must" help. I warned our hospital that I would keep bringing my wife to the ER once she is discharged if they do not treat her. That seemed to have gotten their attention. Her bill thus far after 25 days admiitance is approaching the $200000 mark I guess. We are old and poor. Can we ever pay that? What price is worth a life? I promised the hospital that I will donate my body upon death for their studies and I will. I wont need my worthless carcass anyway! PRAISE GOD and our Lord Jesus!! Good luck and get the help.

My husband has had several ischemic strokes over the last 3 months and two small ones prior that only showed on MRI. He is doing well but he has these bizarre sensations like electricity shooting thru his body! Not painful but disconcerting since no one seems to have an answer. He will not see a neurologist for follow up from the April
26 and the June 6 stroke hospitalizations until mid September! That seems crazy!! Anyone know of this symptom and/ or experience such bizarre sensations. He has movement and walks pretty good without assistance. Cognitive is good but vision was impaired. He has a blind spot but Physical Therapy is helping the brain rewire. He has been A-fib forever and now takes Eliquis, Entresto, 325 aspirin, 80mg Lipitor, metoprolol and spironalactane.

Hello @pickleballnut. Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! Love your handle and pickleball as well.

The way you have explained your husband's sensory experience regarding the electric shock feeling makes me wonder if you have heard of myoclonic seizures or if that was ever discussed?

- Myoclonic Seizure:

Does any of this description resonate with the timing of the seizures that he feels the electric sensation?

Thank you so much fir responding! I did go to the site and read about the Myoclonic Seizure and all the others! Unfortunately, it really does not really sound like what he experiences. The feeling of Electrical bolts of lightning pulsing thru his body but usually not painful just weird. He never feels like he will lose consciousness and never has. Pretty constant electrical charge going on. He thinks I should be able to feel it but I can not! Very bizarre!! No one has discussed anything like that! The Neurologist told him to just see the PT person and get very active!! He does stay active! Thanks again!! Perplexed!

@pickleballnut
Myoclonic seizure patients don't usually lose consciousness.
Remember seizures are a n extremely individualized condition. You also mentioned TIA’s which are often hard to differentiate from focal seizures however my thinking since he does have A-fib seizures are unlikely. But who knows for sure. even if he were to have a normal electroencephalograph it’s still wouldn’t give you a definitive answer. Many patients who have normal EEG’s have frequent seizures. Strokes are the leading cause of epilepsy in older people but most often from hemorrhagic strokes versus embolic strokes like your husband had, if I understand correctly.
But stress, anxiety, coming off certain medications, neuropathy can also cause the activity you describe. Also caffeine especially in large quantities. When something isn’t just right in the brain can act erratic and do all sorts of bizarre things.
Take care,
Jake

Thank you Jake!! We will certainly ask about the seizure possibility. All so confusing and not having a neurologist appointment until 4 months after his Strokes event is crazy.
