Low Ferritin INFeD (iron dextran) injections
Hello,
My hematologist recently started me on Infed iron infusions for low ferritin levels. I have had 3 treatments and my levels only went up from 12 to 13. Has anyone had any success with the Infed brand or tried multiple brands such as ferrlecit or Injectafer? I recently had surgery for endometriosis as well, and my dr implanted an IUD. I had heavy bleeding for over 15 years along with fatigue, pain, heart palpitations, amongst other symptoms. We are hoping with the endo under control there will be less bleeding, however it will take a few months to notice a difference if any.
I also have low vitamin D levels and asthma. I suffer from severe ADHD and subsequent depression and anxiety. My ADHD symptoms, along with my asthma and urticaria symptoms are exacerbated during ovulation and 10 days before my period. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!

It sounds like you are receiving treatment for your physical aliments. May I ask if you are currently receiving any mental health treatment?

1 Reaction@myusername2021 Welcome to Connect. It was suggested that I may have helpful information for you re: ferritin infusions. The only piece I can offer is my own experience and I don’t even know the brand. But this I do know- twice I was given a series of six infusions, two weeks apart over three months. Numbers didn’t go up rapidly, nor were the increases dramatic. But they did the job at the time.
You are probably realizing that most if not all of your treatments have a response slower than you would like. We all get impatient waiting on results. But I hope that you do see gradual improvement as you move forward.

Hello, your post is several months old but I came across it while searching for Injectafer threads. Have you had your infusions yet? I'd like to caution you about Injectafer as it is known to cause super low phosphorus. Also, phosphorus needs Vitamin D to be absorbed so if you're low on D, this could be a greater side effect. Iron infusions are game changers, provided it's the right kind. I also have endometriosis, had a hysterectomy in part to correct my anemia (it didn't but that's another thread) and have had probably 20 iron infusions in my life. These last two knocked my phosphorus down and I've been sick for a month.

Iron deficiency anemia caused by endometriosis and bleeding hemorrhoids.
