OCD and Major Depression
I'm overly medicated but am afraid to cut back. When I do I spend all nite worrying I won't sleep! All I do is lay there doing tormenting compulsions. Wake up very dizzy every morning,. It goes away in 2 hours. I need to taper off 325mg. Seraquel but too scared. I have been able to stay out of the hospital for a year though. So confused. Any suggestions? Maria.

Hi Maria, I'm so glad you are getting help. I would ask the therapist if she can recommend a test, or which doctor can help you. I have heard lately of "genetic testing" but I don't know anythiing else about it. Just don't make any med changes without a doctor.. Bless you and have a beautiful Christmas. sharon
Hello @lulu4982
It's been a couple of weeks since you last posted and I was thinking about you. How are you feeling these days?
You mentioned in your post that you were recently diagnosed with adhesive arachnoiditis. How are you being treated for that? Have you had steroid injections or other treatments?
On Connect we do have a discussion group for this disorder. Here is the link to that discussion, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/arachnoiditis/?commentsorderby=DESC#chv4-comment-stream-header.
Here also is a link to some information from Mayo Clinic which you might find helpful. It is about finding a specialist who treats this rare condition.

Many of us have found that the more we learn about a disorder the more empowered we feel to deal with it.
Hello @buyearly. I think you made a good suggestion to @mariajean03. I have a friend who was having a difficult time finding an antidepressant med that would work for her. She submitted a sample for DNA testing and this will show her doctor what antidepressant will work the best for her.
@mariajean03, might you consider talking with your doctor about this?
To @mariajean03 and @buyearly,
I did find a Connect discussion that deals with genetic testing for mental health meds. You can read about the experiences of others and reply and ask questions of them.
