No Refills

Posted by lsittll @lsittll, Aug 17, 2020

I went to pick up prescriptions. On the instruction label for one of them was "patient misses appointment on xx date and no refills." My doctor really has guts to put that on a prescription label and make it public! I missed two appointments in a row but they were both beyond my control. The first time there was an unexpected delay on the subway. When I got to the office the receptionist said the doctor just left. I walked past the doctor in the block next to her office. The second time the appointment was teletherapy (over the phone). The receptionist did not confirm the phone number the doctor should call. The phone number where she should have called is different than the one on file. The other Sunday I picked up a prescription. I lost it that night on the bus. Cigna allows one override for each medication annually. The medication needed an authorization for refill. I called the doctor's office and left a message explaining the matter. I called the pharmacy too. It contacted the doctor to authorize a refill for the medication. The doctor denied the request. I have been without the medication for two weeks now. Luckily I am fine so far. Boy if something would have happened to me I would have done something! The way she has been about this whole thing does not reflect the understanding and kind doctor that she is. I m so hurt by this whole thing.

@lsittll, that must've have been upsetting. Are you back on track with prescriptions and refills now?

@siittll
I hope it wasn’t your seizure medication.

Hello @Colleen Young!

I'm still not back on refills yet. I've been without Depakote that I take at bedtime for a month Luckily no adverse changes. I still have all my other anti seizure meds. It will not be until I see my neurologist next month that anything will be refilled. I see my neurologist/epileptologist in September. I certainly hope things change then.

Hello Jake!
It would have to be my nighttime Depakote pill. I still have the morning dose of Depakote. I have no noticed seizure activity so far. This is not the way to find out that I did not need that medicine.
Take care,
Laurie
