So, I got my vest. Had some difficulty. My hands are not strong enough to snap open the three chest straps. I found it quite heavy. But, I'm going to soldier on because I'm so tired of being tired.I think manufacturers do not think of older people when they design and women usually do not have hands as strong as men. I also wonder if all the shaking is entirely good for one. . It's noisy, and not totaly unpleasant but I've only just started so I'll stick with it to see if it makes a difference. That and the nebulizing take quite a chunk out ot the day...worth it if it improves breathing. Flib

I use the Smart Vest and have been using it diligently for about 1 1/2 years. I love it, to tell y'all the truth. I use the time to read and relax. If I secure it too tightly, yes, it can hurt. If that happens, I pause it, loosen the tabs just a bit and then restart it. I'm not familiar with VibaLung. sounds interesting. Do they work in a similar fashion?? Everyone keep safe. Personally, I'm home and don't go out anywhere except to take myself for a drive once in awhile. Just me, myself and I in my car. Blessings to everyone ! Toni

Thank you for that suggestion, Bill. My concern is the tubing that connects to the tank growing bacteria and then jetting that into my mouth. I do miss using my Waterpik !!

@toni1132 You can run vinegar through it several times, let the vinegar sit in the line for a couple of hours. Then use distilled water. (I would think)

I got rid of our WaterPik over 40 years ago over concern about how to keep it clean, long before bronchiectasis and MAC were on my radar. I'm reading the discussion regarding peroxide as a disinfectant with interest. What bacteria are you concerned about eliminating? I can't seem to find evidence that peroxide or colloidal silver will kill NTM or MAC in devices. I have always wished I could use a WaterPik again because flossing is difficult for my arthritic hands, so I would love to find a simple way to sanitize all the parts.

Sue, I would think that the cleaning grade of vinegar would work to run thru it. I clean my coffee maker that way.

Thank you for this suggestion, Kate. I was putting hydrogen peroxide in the tank filling it and flushing it through when I finished but didn't know it this was accomplishing anything. The water sitting in the tube is what concerned me. Thank you for your input, Kate. Keep safe ! Toni

@toni1132 I've been thinking more about the water pik and killing the MAC. Perhaps running saltwater through at the end and allowing it to sit in the plastic tubing would kill any potential MAC.?? I am attaching research that indicates that MAC cannot live in a saline solution of 7% or greater. (check the chart) I think I will start doing this. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4850692/ I was never sure if colloidal silver would kill it but feel good about the saltwater.

Hello Sue, I quit waterpiking and went back to flossing as well. BUT it seems to me that if you buy a new waterpik unit and ONLY put in boiled water then MAC has no way to get established so it should not be necessary to take special measures to kill it. Boiling water is just too much trouble for me hence back to flossing. Bill
