@ashby1947 I have dry eyes,glucoma and macular degeneration. The eye Dr. gave me samples of Systein compltere its the newest one in Systien it really works and I have cut down on the number of drops from 6 a day to only 3 .

I still continue to use it because I am grasping at straws to hopefully keep whatever sight I can because I am legally blind and continue to lose more sight as time goes bye. Just purchased a new keyboard with very large letters and enhanced with a white background and black lettering. It is a big difference so I am sharing this for all. (As well as changing the font to a higher degree). By the way I am on Lumigan, Alphagan, Xiidra or The other one (forget the name} as well as much much Systane and Systane Ultra. My many years in dry climates with very low humidity led me to finally face the music and take care of my eyes. Years ago, Restasis was the first breakthrough medication other than drops and ointments.
Now there is Xiidra which has helped with everything but my pocketbook and that includes relief from dry eye syndrome in much less time than other options. Have you tried the hot eyelid compresses that you place on your eyes to keep the oil in the meibomian gland from hardening? These glands secrete oil onto the surface of the eyes with each blink to keep the corneas well lubricated.
Do you wear sunglasses for severe sensitivity? They sure help. And have you had lipiflow treatments? I think they kept those glands from drying up completely.
And finally, my Ophthalmologist told me that the only sure-fire way to remove dry eye threats was to live in a rain forest. So...here I am in a place where the humidity is at least in the double digits. I do notice that the ground is covered with white. Hmmmmmm?????
Something you might add to your regime is Refresh Celluvisc, which my Mayo ompthomologist recommended, along with Theratears Nutrition and the warm moist compresses. I tried both Restasis and Xiidra and the Celluvisc has worked just as well, maybe better, for a fraction of the price.

She told me she cant use hers now just bought a new one , so thanks for sharing . My eyes arent that bad yet but I am going to ask Dr about xiidra see what she says. One thing I do is use a eye wash in morning and evening to wash the pollution, burning out of my eyes. Have a good day

I was given xiidra samples, blurred my vision for an hour and a half so I didn’t stick with them. There is a good assistance program where you may be eligible to get them for free. I believe the incomes amount was $60,000 or less. That’s all they asked, not other financial information.

I have Gloucoma, Macular and Sjogrens but I also have pus coming from the part nearest to the nose. The doctor says not to worry just keep washing it away. The hospitals here where I live have nothing to do with the Opthamologists. Is this the same elsewhere?

Dear Chris Trout, thank you for your suggestions. Yes Dr. McNair has told me to do the hot compresses and they do feel so very good. Especially the heat. I do wear strong sun glasses quite often. Here in Florida the humidity is pretty good. I still worry about the pus that comes out from the eye nearest the nose. Doctor says just continue to wash it away. Also the red blood lines in the eyes. To me it is not acceptable. Also, here is a big question. No one wants to address the issue of removing eye plugs from the eyes. So called permanent ones. My left eye has something within it that moves around and this is very painful and I think it is the eye plug pushed into the eye. Trying to smile somehow!

Oh I’ve wondered about serum drops effectiveness, I have meibomium gland dysfunction, MGD, type of dry eye. Pricey I bet!
