Posted by nbv1515 @nbv1515, Apr 8, 2019

I am 15 and still growing but my question is can frequent masturbation stunt height growth or affect my hormones?

Hi @kamalgeenath. You'll notice that I moved your message to this existing discussion about height and growing for teens.

As far as I know, there isn't a specific sleeping position that would help you get taller. It's more important that you sleep comfortably so the you get good sleep. Sleep and exercise are important for your health overall, but also important for your spine.

Here's an article that may interest you.

Genetics is the main factor that determines your height. Are your parents and grandparents tall?

@kamalgeenath - There are many young people, mostly men, asking your question- can I grow taller?
@colleenyoung posted a link to an article about growth in her post to you. It is one of the best articles on this subject that I have ever read. Read it!
Genetics plays a big role. If you look at your parents’ heights you would be a combination of their heights as well as + or - an inch or two. If your growth plates are closed you are done. To really find out if you are still growing one could X-ray the wrists and compare the bone age to your actual age. My son was a late bloomer and was not finished at your age- he started puberty very late. He is 6’5” now.
I hope that the information we have given will help you. If you still have your pediatrician he/she could give you answers.

Welcome to Connect, @kamalgeenath Both my son and my daughter continued to grow during their college years, as did many of their friends. One boy we knew grew at least 6" during that time! If your parents are taller than you are, then chances you will grow more. My son is at this point taller than either my husband or me but not by a huge amount.
The boy I mentioned who grew quite a lot is substantially taller than either of his parents now but there must be some tall genes somewhere within his relatives.

Hello, I'm a 17 years old male and my height is 137 cm (4ft 6in). I've always been really short, but I don't think I'm going to grow much taller and I'd like to do something about it as soon as I can. What should I do?

Genetics play a big part in growth and adult height. Did your parents or grandparents have late growth spurts?

Hi @blackphantom89 -
I agree that it is confusing for you not to have grown what was expected in your family.
I hope you had a chance to read previous posts on this subject.
Has any doctor ever commented on your height? As children grow the doctors will plot your numbers on a graph to make sure growth is steady.
There are medical conditions that will slow your growth, such as thyroid or growth hormone problems, kidney disease and intestinal disease. One intestinal disease is an autoimmune illness called celiac disease- nutrients can not be absorbed properly.
My advice for you today is to discuss this with a doctor- such as an endocrinologist.
Testing can tell if you do have a medical problem that can be treated or that you take after someone in your family that also ended up shorter than most family members.

I did this so you can connect with other teens and also read the helpful information that Ethan and @astaingegerdm have posted.
