Recipes, Food Tips, Healthy Eating & More
Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.
Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.
Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!
I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

Never force yourself to eat anything you have tried and don’t like even if it is good for you. I tried the ones in tomato sauce and hated them....I like them either in olive oil, water or there was a Mediterranean one with black olives that was good and I am not an olive lover. I accidentally bought a lot of canned anchovies at Costco but haven’t tasted them yet. Honestly I could eat the entire can of sardines in one sitting with a few crackers, tomatoes and cheese for lunch. It’s nice to love something that is actually good for you....balances out the not so good things.
Made braised red cabbage this morning...the aroma is wonderful....could eat that anytime. I know there are a lot of recipes but my favorite uses the sugar and white wine vinegar and a little butter. Eat it cold or room temperature with some goat cheese.

Interesting isn't the way I'd describe it but I guess you knew that.
@imallears
The cabbage sounds good, whatever braised is. My vocabulary is very limited on cooking terminology and I hope it never improves.

“please don’t say “yuck” to other people’s food preferences”
Okay okay I got it but that's not to say I'll remember it. I suppose my other descriptive terms are henceforth prohibited.

@imallears We also used to make creamed salmon on toast for a yummy lunch. Just make a simple white sauce and add a tin of salmon. We also had "Chicken Haddy", creamed on toast but I don't remember what type of canned fish was used. Is there such a thing as canned Haddy? Lol. It was a Depression and Post-War II favorite.
@jakedduck1 Yes I will with the salad maybe tonight
@jakedduck1 and @imallears So sorry, I apologize. That must also include my "Eeeeuw". Guilty as charged.
@imallets Jake did try my 72% chocolate now I,ll have the sauerkraut and onion sandwich he said it wasn't bad
