The cabbage sounds good, whatever braised is. My vocabulary is very limited on cooking terminology and I hope it never improves.

Sliced or shredded red sautéed in a little butter on top of the stove in a sturdy ovenproof pot, adding sugar until it dissolves and then the white wine vinegar. Then you put the pot with cover into a 325 oven for 2-2.5 hours. That’s braising baby.
