Recipes, Food Tips, Healthy Eating & More
Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.
Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.
Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!
I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

Salt, pepper, red pepper if you like , garlic powder, tumeric, Parmesan with a little breadcrumbs, paprika, minced onion OR Badia , or Old Bay or Creole seasoning if you have those instead. I use bagel seasoning a lot and crushed pecans which was good. Mix whatever you want in any combination on wax paper ...spray or oil the breast first and completely cover it with the seasoning pressing the chicken into all corners then lightly spray all over again (you can use Pam for that or spray olive oil or spray avocado oil. If you don’t have a spray oil then drizzle some EVO over both sides.
When you turn after 10 minutes you’ll see how browned the side that was down is. If your chicken breast is very large you can add a minute or 2 each side but no more and make sure that oven is preheated....it’s like putting a steak on a hot grill
Use parchment paper for easy cleanup or aluminum foil. If you use aluminum foil preheat the pan with the foil on it. Let chicken rest for 5 minutes ...easier to slice and it is still cooking.

I think you will like the smell when you open the jar. I imagine some brands may be better than others. You can mix with garlic powder or garlic salt too.

I’m looking forward to this but not the drudgery of fixing it. Is Turmeric potent? How much?
Jake
Oh bagel seasoning
Never saw it. Is it in a regular store or a specialty store

Tumeric is a good anti inflammatory ....just sprinkle a teaspoon or less...by itself it’s bitter but you won’t taste it on food.
I take a capsule of tumeric curcumin daily for the benefits which you can Goggle.
I bought my Bagel seasoning in Walmart....Trader Joes has it...All health food stores or stores like Whole Foods , Sprouts have it.
It should be in the same area as all the other herbs and spices .
Don’t know who is your main supermarket is but Publix chain is mine and they have it now under Badia brand.

I thought it was going to be a sad day because all the food my friend brought me is gone. Out of desperation and the terrifying thought of cooking, I throughly scoured the freezer and found some enchiladas another friend made awhile back. Thank goodness, a near tragedy averted. I got a reprieve for a day or two. But what then?

@jakedduck1 “necessity is the mother of invention”. I’m sure you’ll come up with something.

Unfortunately I don’t have much of a choice. Could order another box of candy, not Purdy's though. There were some good pieces but I didn’t enjoy it enough to justify the price. See’s is still my favorite and more reasonable, $26 smackers a pound. I’d get some but I gained a few pounds so candy is out for awhile. Maybe a roast with lots of veggies but then there’s all that washing cutting and chopping. I recently read some nut on here liked to chop veggies, I can’t imagine it myself but they should sell them. I’d be a steady customer!

@jakedduck1 Actually, many big stores do sell chopped veggies in the produce section. You never know, you might make it as a cook, yet! I like to chop veggies up, it helps get my anger and aggression out, but really enjoy a good knife. This set I have up here [hubby got the good set and will relocate north with them in about 8 months] really is inadequate. I may have to go get one good quality knife to see me through!
