Liver biopsy

My son has had a FibroSure test, which came back abnormal, needs a liver biopsy now. What will biopsy tell? And is this test accurate?

I am having an MRE today due to fatty infiltrates of liver , at this point I am following Mediterranean diet no alcohol and exercise - 30 min at least five days a week. Exercise this winter is the hardest . Once I receive the results of the liver elasticity from the MRE imaging the treatment plan will hopefully be more specific . I researched that1/4 have fatty liver . There are clinical trials looking at how to delay progression of fibrosis
I will keep sharing what I learn because it is more common than I thought and it helps to have discussions

I have not been told to have that test. I have NASH. Have you been told you have fatty liver disease or NASH?

I think that is what I had today. I have NASH. I took a test today that is very new and will give doctors a tool to further diagnosis liver damage. It was like an ultra sound because it used sound waves that bounce back from liver. This shows how fiberous the liver is and what stage of fatty liver you have.

I am a liver transplant patient, I did not have NASH, and I did not have the test that you describe. Would you tell me the name of it when you learn it? I would like to learn about it.

I was diagnosed April2015 from liver biopsy. This week I has a fibro scan at the GI Research Center in Pensacola, Fl. I can send photo of scan page

@donnak142 - So, am I correct that this test is to look at the degree of liver damage?
I am not at all a medically trained person, so if you post the image, I will not know what it is all about. If you do choose to post it, please remove any identifying information,for your privacy.

How are you being treated currently for NASH? And are you experiencing any bothersome liver disease symptoms?

Hi @donnak142, I agree with Rosemary. Before uploading an image of the scan results, be sure to black out personal identifying information of yourself and of the practitioner. For example remove your name, MRN, technician name, location, etc. I removed the image you posted because that information was clearly visible. Feel free to repost the image with the personal identifying pieces of information covered up. It's good internet safety practice.
