Liver biopsy

Posted by adah @adah, Feb 9, 2019

My son has had a FibroSure test, which came back abnormal, needs a liver biopsy now. What will biopsy tell? And is this test accurate?

@adah Good morning! I can tell from your posts that you are worried about your son and his liver fibrosis. The best thing for you and your son right now is not to worry. You’ll make yourself sick! The doctor will watch the lab/blood values for any changes. Your son should focus on helping/improving his liver function. He should focus on a plant-based diet, eat foods like veggies and citrus fruit, nuts, fish, healthy oils, and drink coffee and tea (who knew!) Also avoid over-consumption of food and alcohol. Focus on a good exercise program. I found this info on sites like WebMD, which is a reputable site. I hope everything goes OK for you and your son. Let us know how it goes!

@adah Good morning! How are you today? I think you’ve come to the most difficult stage of any disease—waiting. It is so hard and really tries your patience. When I worked in the hospital, we saw it everyday—just waiting. We really tried to shift a patient’s focus from waiting to something positive. Maybe you could try that. Have you heard of “tapping”? Google thetappingsolution. It has a great way to refocus your brain onto the positive. It sure works for me. Maybe @lioness has some more info on it. Stay in touch, please!

@adah Good morning Thank you @becsbuddy I have been doing Tapping for over 10 yrs when I first heard of it I was skeptical but after watching Nick Ortner and doing it myself I was convinced that it really did work. You can do this anywhere even mentally if your in a congested place . Go to The Tapping solution then you can find a lot of places to look including explanation on You Tub by Nick . I had an anger problem when you do tapping it starts to go away by what you say while tapping on the meridian points in the body . I believe it will help you and your son . Let us know

I am 67 ,male from south east asia .I have a small gall stone which sometime become painful .My doctor has advised that there is no immediate need to remove my gall bladder .My ultra sound indicated slight fatty infiltration of liver . My fibroscan of liver has given me a result of 7.6 Kpa (Median).I have been advised to start some exercise and use a low fat diet and avoid sugar and sugar made items.i have yet to discuss my fibro scan with my doctor .
Any guidance on my fibroscan score ? Is it high ?

I am having a fibroscan this Friday and also have a fatty liver that may indicate need for biopsy .I too have been given the same advice ; I am just curious if your current lifestyle does include healthy foods and exercise , I have been health conscious most of my life but for the past few years had gained 15 pounds and less exercise so I believe those factors do make a difference. My sister is a dietician and I do know that liverfoundation.org has excellent outcome based recommendations .

Hi @liaquat,

Since you mentioned fatty liver, I moved your discussion and combined it with this existing discussion. I also did this as I thought it would be beneficial for you to be introduced to the many members who are talking about similar conditions.

I am having an MRE today due to fatty infiltrates of liver , at this point I am following Mediterranean diet no alcohol and exercise - 30 min at least five days a week. Exercise this winter is the hardest . Once I receive the results of the liver elasticity from the MRE imaging the treatment plan will hopefully be more specific . I researched that1/4 have fatty liver . There are clinical trials looking at how to delay progression of fibrosis
I will keep sharing what I learn because it is more common than I thought and it helps to have discussions
