C. difficile – Are your guts ever normal again?
Does anyone know any body that has recovered from c.diff (guts back to pre-c.diff status ) . I have been negative for a year and still have bloating every time I eat anything and sporadic diarrhea. I need maternity clothing to eat and be comfortable. I have 0 appetite since I was initially infected.I am on creon 36,000 . this helps some what with bloating,I take papya&pineapple enzymes not helping, and floraster 2xday not sure about that.I have tried the FODMAP diet, I avoid many foods on that diet. I am seeing an RD, just finished an elimination diet with her. If I eat I bloat there for I am. Bottom line...are my guts ruined forever ?

@taxpayinghorse I tried the GAS X but didn't really notice any difference. Like you, I wake every morning with gas pains. I'm better after I'm up for awhile.
Gas pains are probably because your gut doesn't have enough cilia to breakdown your food in the large and small intestines. The food you ate is just sitting in there and festering...and causing all that gas. The pills you are taking won't help move any of that festering bulk out.... So you have to have another plan. Getting rid of what is in your gut and starting over. Think about what you are eating and drinking. Is it clean food? Does the food help you heal or is it junk food? Does it have preservatives in it? Is it fatty? Does it have any nutrients in it? How late are your eating? These are some of the questions that need to be asked to see if there is a pattern that needs to be altered to stop the gas from forming in the first place.
Resting your gut for a day may be an answer where you only drink your good clean foods like water with lemon, smoothies with only clean fruits and veggies. This allows your gut/LIVER to clean itself out. Check out some of the sites on this blog site that talk about how to do this.
It can also be a defect in your system. I had every test done and come to find out I had delayed gastric emptying. I tried diet changes and every medication. I had similar to a pyloroplasty so everything would flow. Cured my gas and bloating.
@nurseheadakes @claytamos I never had a problem with gas before last year and 4 bouts of Cdiff. And I've never had a day since those that I was constipated. I use to have a problem if I ate jelly beans or licorice. Not any more. Even those foods don't cause me problems like in the past. If anything, my BM's are loose and never fail every single morning. I do need to drink more water and I'm going to start adding lemon. And I'm going to do the peppermint tea at night. I think that does help a little.
The water with lemon didn't do anything for me but aggravate my acid reflux. You may want to lay off the jelly beans and licorice. Simple sugars can cause gas and diarrhea. I get the Peppermint Gel Caps. They were more convenient. Good luck to you.
Lemon water in excess can aggravate but three cups is generally enough for the stomach to take care of your three meals a day. sipping it is how you should be doing it. Peppermint is good. AS A RULE: NO to most any type of sugars because it feeds the bad bacteria/viruses in your gut. That is why cancers thrive in your body. Cancers are fed by any sugar you feed it. Decrease your sugar and salt and utilize herbs to get you flavors instead.
Everyone is different. What works for one may not work for another. Lemon water did absolutely nothing for me.
Went in hospital with diverticulitis and they put me in quarantine because I had tested c diff. Never heard of it before then. I am taking Dr Gundry prebiotic and that has dried up my runny stools
