Has anyone used CBD oil for chronic pain? And do you have results?

Posted by rensacb @rensacb, Jan 22, 2019

I'm a chronic pain suffer of 35+ years. Scoliosis is the culprit. Not a disfiguring curve but non the less painfully destructive. Almost every disc is bulging from 3mm to 6mm. I've had 2 spinal fusion. C 3-7 and L 4-5. Have 4 nerve root impengements with spondylosis in some areas and stenosis at interval from neck to sacral. Take steroid shots when I can with positive results for a few weeks. Always have Norco 5mg/325 ready if needed. Unfortunately I have found the best way to keep pain down is to lie down. So most of my days are spent on my bed. Any suggestions?

I also have chronic back pain after 3 surgeries and some compression fractures over the past 4 years and have spinal stenosis. I have usd CBD oil drops for the past 5 months and have had very good results. Once a level was established and used every 4-5 hours my pain went from 6 to 3. I have had no side effects. The regular medicines I was instructed to decrease was Voltaren for my arthritis and glimepiride. Good luck.

There is a lot of hype about this currently. I have been a chronic pain patient for a decade now. I have tried both the oil and some ointment which ultimately led me to the conclusion they do not work on me. I have a feeling this result will be quite common for those who have been on opiods and other medications for long periods of time. I have often wondered if the THC is what would be of more benefit but the laws in my State and the contract I have signed with my physician prevent me from investigating it any further.

I use a THC/CBD mix when I can find it but lately it is seldom available. I use medical grade oils but since Canada has delisted marijuana in October/18 it is harder to find what I need. I do use a more expensive oil as that is what worked best for me but it’s so frustrating that it is now open to everyone as the producers can’t keep up with the demand. I have been on these oils for over 2 years and now I have to take whatever is available even if it’s not what I really need. Whenever I check (daily) there is absolutely nothing available and the restocking dates are never accurate. Ahhhhh!!!

@rensacb I have been using CBD oil sublingual, for about 6 months. I had to get myself in the habit of taking it. I do find there is relief for anxiety, depression, chronic pain from osteoarthritis, and fibromyalgia. When I forget, or miss a day, it's easy to tell. As I have not been on opioids cannot tell you the interaction or contraindications. I was very honest with my primary Dr plus my two main specialists, about using it.

@gingerw, what a good way to measure the effectiveness of cannabis.....miss a day. And I am glad you self-disclosed to your providers. Then you become quite the team for true integrated medicene. Congratulations and I hope the relief continues. You are encouraging.

Thanks Ginger. How much do you take, how often, what strength and is the oil pure? A lot of questions but I know nothing about this product. I only take the opioid when I have more pain than usual. I find laying down helps the pain level but can't do much else.

@marychapman That is a bummer. California was the same way. For at least 6 months after the recreational realm began, it was almost impossible to acquire my usual medical cannabis or even substitutes. Now that all of the packaging regulations have been met, the stock is back and I can even order online and then pick up later. I can also request a call when a particular product is back in stock. They always call which makes it a lot easier. Hang in there. I understand how it can make you very anxious when nothing that you know is available.

@rensacb @artscaping Typically 10mg once a day, a second dose if needed. It is CBD Oil, with only a trace amount of THC (.03%). It is extracted using CO2 method, which eliminates the chemicals. I have been satisfied with the business I used before I moved, and have ordered from them to ship me as I get close to running out. Being in Calif, there are many places to purchase from.
