Gratitude Discussion Group
Hi everyone! Just before Thanksgiving @michellegraffradford posted a blog called Gratitude Changes Everything. She suggested three techniques to help incorporate gratitude into our daily lives:
- Start the Day with Gratitude (before getting up think of three people you are grateful for)
- Maintain a Gratitude Journal to record times when you are grateful
- Count Blessings – not sheep! (Review the day and remember moments of gratitude)
Her blogpost was so inspiring that a lot of us decided we wanted to form a Gratitude Group to keep the attitude of gratitude going. The blogpost area is not an ideal space for a big discussion group so I am moving the discussion over here to the “Just Want to Talk” Group. Let’s use this space to share and discuss our Gratitude Journey. I’m going to suggest that we each try to take a minute from the day and post here what has made us feel thankful today. It can be as small as a stranger’s smile on the bus or as large as fulfilling a major life dream – or anywhere in between. We can also discuss how we are doing with the three techniques. Sometimes it is easier to form new habits with support from others.
Michelle's full blogpost is at the link below. You may want to review it or print it out to help get started!

I look forward to hearing from others in the Gratitude Group and to having others join us here! Thanks to those who already shared great stories. If you haven't yet, what gratitude will you share today?!

Mamacita, oh where is Santi Claus? If not an apple how about an O ronge. They say not to mix apples an oranges that’s why I’m suggesting an O ronge it rhymes so it’s gotta bee good!
I have not had my cup of morning Jo aka: “coffee” as of yet and need to be driven back from my doctor as my persistent vision problem blurs things so badly that it’s not really safe to drive on my own. I would be gratefully for a Tesla to drive for me. It’s already on my list while some friends think I should be happy with a new Cattarac de Ville but they don’t make that model anymore.
Another friend says: “ we’ll see “
HA! EZ4 them to say. They’re grateful for a white cane with a red tip. I rather get the Tesla. Am I being selfish?
Will I make it in Stand up?
Two men walk into a bar. If they knew it was a limbo contest they might have ducked.
Coffee’s ready! I’m sure grateful for that!
Today I am so grateful that I got thru my brain MRI so easily! I even got to wear my own clothes! Sweatshirt and sweatpants. Closed my eyes immediately and didn’t open them again until it was done! Took about 30+ minutes. Rewarded myself with a chocolate chip cookie! Hope the results are good
Yay Becky! Why only one cookie?
@becsbuddy I would have to eat at least 3_9 as a reward

Just what I was wondering.
You certainly must have a lot of will power. When it comes to cake, pie, cookies, candy or pastry more is definitely better. Did you have a Dr Pepper with your cookie? Did you really only have one? Was it one of those GIANT cookies?
Now I want some cookies. I only have 7 kinds on hand so making a decision shouldn’t be too hard.

Here’s a prayer that the results will be good. And good for you for only one cookie. Well have to scan Leonard’s brain to see if the sweet reward area is taking over the entire brain!

Cookies aside, was wondering if the fires are anywhere near you guys and anyone else on this forum that lives in California? Do you have any friends or family that are affected?
If you ever had to evacuate (god forbid), would you only take mom and the cookies/candies? I bet you have an emergency bag.
Florida is getting some fall like weather tomorrow so I am grateful for that. However they say the humidity is coming back next week. A most unusual season. And they say climate change is a fraud...ha!
I have sweaters and boots to wear for crying out loud......and sheets to cover the plants in the event of a frost.
My friends say the humidity aggregates their joints ...does anyone find that true?
FL Mary from the Sunshine hurricane humid state
@becsbuddy So good to hear you came thru the scan with flying colors. We are all holding good thoughts for the results, you know. Now, about that cookie as a reward: here, have one for me since I cannot have chocolate! And no, Leonard, it's for Becky, not you LOL!

I am very grateful to my oncologist. On Monday i had a kidney biopsy to determine some issues related to a recent diagnosis of IgM myeloma, before treatment commences. My oncologist directed a final reading to be done at Mayo Clinic [that is where he did his residency]. When my nephrologist called Tues night he said he had the results from a local lab, and "that was enough". I gently reminded him of the oncologist's request. He seemed reluctant to follow through so I messaged to the cancer center. A phone call yesterday afternoon was the results will go back to Mayo, as per originally instructed. Now I want to see the nephrology orders for the procedure and compare them to the oncology chart notes!
