Gratitude Discussion Group
Hi everyone! Just before Thanksgiving @michellegraffradford posted a blog called Gratitude Changes Everything. She suggested three techniques to help incorporate gratitude into our daily lives:
- Start the Day with Gratitude (before getting up think of three people you are grateful for)
- Maintain a Gratitude Journal to record times when you are grateful
- Count Blessings – not sheep! (Review the day and remember moments of gratitude)
Her blogpost was so inspiring that a lot of us decided we wanted to form a Gratitude Group to keep the attitude of gratitude going. The blogpost area is not an ideal space for a big discussion group so I am moving the discussion over here to the “Just Want to Talk” Group. Let’s use this space to share and discuss our Gratitude Journey. I’m going to suggest that we each try to take a minute from the day and post here what has made us feel thankful today. It can be as small as a stranger’s smile on the bus or as large as fulfilling a major life dream – or anywhere in between. We can also discuss how we are doing with the three techniques. Sometimes it is easier to form new habits with support from others.
Michelle's full blogpost is at the link below. You may want to review it or print it out to help get started!

I look forward to hearing from others in the Gratitude Group and to having others join us here! Thanks to those who already shared great stories. If you haven't yet, what gratitude will you share today?!

@nancy82415 One problem with a green thumb-a lot of work accompanies. I enjoy playing in the dirt and with health issues I cannot even use a shovel to dig. No amount of physical therapy will help. I tried last Spring to use my spade on my ornamental grass to divide and landed on my arse!! All I could do was laugh and get back on my feet. Only thing damaged was my dignity.
There are some things that seem to come naturally or possibly it is genetic. Give yourself time to decide.
I am grateful for this cyber table and a place to be real.
@parus - Best of luck today! I'm thinking of you! Let me know how things go?
Hello @parus
I hope that all goes well for you today with the biopsy. I do want to let you know how touched I was by your post. You are a remarkable in that you have grown so much in your approach towards your problems and difficulties. You set the bar high for others who struggle with courageous behavior and acceptance of how unfair life can be at times!
@parus I had read yesterday that today is your biopsy, and I hope as this is posted, that you have had the procedure done already, and are recovering well. Your attitude is wonderful. Wish we were closer so I could fix you a cuppa tea and just "be there" to lend support. Keep a positive thought you see no symptoms because there are none there!
Giving your little grandson a different way to play expands his horizon, always a good thing!
We will sit patiently [or not] beside you as the waiting period for the results muddle through the days.
Ginger
@parus You have a whole cheering section waiting to hear on your biopsy and hoping the results will be good. We will try to be patient!

@parus, I found your post and I hope I am not too late to tell you I am one of the crowd cheering you on! I have a beautiful coffee cup right here for you. I would gladly make whatever you wanted, in real life, if we lived closer.
But I am real. And my hopes and thoughts are real for you. Praying a peaceful time of waiting for the results. Enjoy that little rascal. They keep us young, for sure.
One of mine is coming tomorrow. The baby. My daughter's best friend is in the hospital, trying desperately to hang on to a baby that wants to get here way too soon. He will be 30 weeks gestation Wednesday. Nothing has helped her so far. They have given the baby steroids to build up his lungs, in case they cannot stop the contractions. I'm doing Mama duty there with her tomorrow or the next day.
Do lots of self care and things you enjoy. We will be here, rooting for you.

@parus I’m just wondering if your insurance plan ever sends out satisfaction surveys? Great way to give feedback on personality and practices the the doctor’s office. But, then I just read an article on the total absence of doctors in some states! What do people do?
I’m so glad your doing better. Keep me informed of all the activities you and your grandson do, so I can be ready when mine come!
Count me into the cheering section @parus! Pulling for you like crazy...
I have filled out any numuber of surveys from hospitals, doctors and insurance co.! None have ever mattered! I have never heard back on any of them. I feel it is a way to make you think that they care!
It's very sad the shape our medical industry as a whole has turned into in the last 20 years! They all use to care! It use to be 10% were not good, now I feel it has flipped the other way. There are only about 10% that I feel would measure up to standards 20 year ago!
Peace!
