Has anyone tried the HF10 Spinal Cord Stimulation Device?

Posted by patrick17 @patrick17, Nov 21, 2018

Has anyone tried a device called HF10 ? It’s a device which stimulates your spinal cord to help relieve back and leg pain. After a trial period of about a week, if the patient is achieving good results the device is implanted in the person. My pain management doctor has recommended it to me for arm and hand nerve pain. I would like to hear from anyone who has used this device and especially from anyone who has used it for arm and hand pain. Thank you.

I just finished my trial of a PNS , stimulator in the leg, it was a very tough 10 days with this and it had no effect. If anything I felt worse for a few days after it was removed.. Do your research, everyone can have different experience but move ahead with caution

So you tried the PNS. Does that stand for Peripheral nerve stimulator?

Yes , by Stemwave. They also have SCS

I had one doctor telling me only a SCS would help me , the other saying no way would he put that in me , so I went with PNS

I've had the HF10 for 2 years now. My back has improved but my sciatic pain is and continues to be very painful at times. Degerative disc with severe compression l4 +l5. Also neuropathy issues.

The HF10 has not worked for my sciatic pain. I've had it 2 years. At times the pain seems to encompass my entire leg.

Thank you for replying. I'm sorry to hear you are still suffering. Hopefully, some new therapy will arrive in the near future that you can try.

@usmc6468 Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect, a place to give and get support.

Sciatic pain is not fun. Members like @artistnomore98 @bill54321 @susieparker @donaldjames1 @metalneck @jfsherley @londonwc1 @sprinrosa64 have discussed this topic in the past and may be able to offer support.

You mentioned that you have neuropathy. Below I have linked the Neuropathy group. You may wish to browse discussions and posts in this group.

You mentioned that pain encompasses your entire leg. May I ask what your provider and/or your physical therapist has offered as a treatment?

Have you talked to the Nevro reps or MD who installed it? My sciatica was recently giving me grief in one specific muscle area group on my R outer hip/upper thigh. I just phoned the Medtronics rep, made an appt to meet with them at the clinic and they reprogrammed my SCS to cover that area better/specifically. I’ve had it one year. This was last week. Our WI weather finally got better and the past few days I’ve been able to take daily 2.2 mile walks without pain, cramping or limping! I’m SO happy! :>)

I'm happy to hear that you were able to get some relief. As of yet I haven't talked to a Nevro rep or physician
