How did you manage the pain side effects of Prolia?
I had prolia injection a week ago. I've developed lower back pain and severe spasms. The spasms are so bad I can hardly get out of bed or even out of a chair. Is there anything I can do or take to alleviate this awful pain.

Any of the biphosphonate drugs (of which Fosomax is one) tend to leave old bone in the bone, not leaving room for new bone growth.... which in long run causes brittle bones that break easier. Lots of research out there that shows that’s true.
Hi - I've been gone for a while. I had hoped to get my DEXA scan - but they locked down California the night before. Since I don't have an immune system, I decided I should not go out for any reason. So now I'm thinking maybe in June or July I will get it done. I hope you are all soldiering on - fighting the osteoporosis.
Hey Cool! I used to have the same reaction to sitting still for long periods. I will be 70 in December, but I still average 18,000 steps per day! However, I have found that if I take 3 mg of Boron three times a day, not only are my aches and pains gone, I CAN enjoy sitting down for a minute without paying the price in stiffness later. I also eschew doctors.
Hey Cool - I used to have the same problem when I sat still. I now take 3 mg of boron three times a day. The upper limit for boron is 20 mg per day - so you are well below it. You should ask your doctor if you are worried about it - though I have found doctors do not know much about boron. All of my aches and pains are pretty much gone. But like you - I feel SO much better when I stay active. I live on a hill and I've been pulling weeds in between the rain storms. The upside is I'm going to have hardly any weeds by the time my roses start putting on their show!
@parrotqueen just read this . Im thinking it will be June or July till this is over . I just hope then it doesn't return like Ive heard Im still on the routine meds for this naturel ones that is .
That is really sad that they put you on Prolia. I hope you are improving. Please post again and let us know.
Lioness - I'm thinking your June or July prediction is maybe a year too soon! We are going to need a vaccine to get out of this mess - and a vaccine is probably 18 months away from now - May 2020. Just take it a day at a time. I am always here to chat if you get lonely. I need a hug from someone - anyone!!! I'm kind of introverted, so I don't mind the shutdown. But I do need hugs from time to time. I am keeping up with my calcium, magnesium, Vitamins D3 and K2 (mk4, mk7), and I'm trying to be better about the collagen. Still doing probiotics and omega 3 along with a good basic multivitamin and extra Vitamin C and B complex. I should be healthy as a horse with all I take. I've been having trouble with my wrists - where the osteoporosis is the worst - so I'm trying to ease up a bit on the gardening, esp. the weed pulling! But housework is just as bad I think. Take care and let me know how you are. Oh still taking boron - but now I'm taking it 4-5 times a day. Apparently if you have osteoporosis, they want you to take close to the upper limit - which is 20 mg a day.
@parrotqueen Hi I was wondering where you where . Im doing fine and the July was in reference to staying in as Mayor Garcetti asked people to do since L.A . county is worse in cases in Ca. My building is doing a good job protecting us . We all here wear mask except for some people who think it wont hit them . I am still on the regimen for osteoporosis . Should I increase my Boron then I take 1 a day Dr. wanted me to go on Fosamax but Im not . My girlfriend was on it and had jaw problems. Then Dr gave her a reclast shot it almost killed her so then I did,nt have it only osteopenia told here to just do exercises and a lot of calcium . Dont overdue the gardening I had a good size garden and canned . Our son was allergic to dye,s and perservatives l enjoyed canning . I forgot where you said you where was it near San Francisco? . Im sorry to hear about you parrot . Is 38 old for a parrot? Do you have another one ? I know you said you raised them did'nt you Be safe wear your mask as I do . Gloves in here when touching elevator buttons or doors. Take care good to hear from you
I have been on Generic Fosamax for two years, no issues at all. You take it once a week,
so it would not be hard to get off of its if issues developed. I talked with two Orthopedic
doctors before I was willing to try this med. I will be getting a bone scan when the
Corona virus lets up. Even with gloves on, I use a knuckle to push an elevator button.
@pattitoo I would be interested in your results when you have your scan will you let me know ? I do use a gloved hand but also when I come back home I spray with clorax water , even the soles of my shoes we have 6 floors here lots of foot traffic . No sense taking chances
