I have been on Generic Fosamax for two years, no issues at all. You take it once a week,
so it would not be hard to get off of its if issues developed. I talked with two Orthopedic
doctors before I was willing to try this med. I will be getting a bone scan when the
Corona virus lets up. Even with gloves on, I use a knuckle to push an elevator button.

Lioness! I am so glad to hear you are doing well. Mayor Garcetti is a smart man - I grew up in Los Angeles. I live in Oakland now (since 1971). It's a shame some of the people aren't wearing a mask where you live - they are putting everybody at risk. I don't know how on earth wearing a mask became a politicized thing. We are so lucky to be in CA - CA has been smarter than some of the states when it comes to the pandemic. My infectious disease doctor called me Tuesday and said because of what is happening in the states where they are going back to opening up too soon, we are going to see the second wave faster than they anticipated. She told me I must stay inside since I have no immune system. I work in my yard every day - I'm so lucky to have a garden. I'm growing a ton of vegetables, fruit and flowers. Last weekend I gave garden tours one after the other. Yes keep a paper towel handy to use when you push the elevator button. And don't touch your face!!! I know, the minute you put the mask on, your face starts itching! It isn't fair. Oh yes about parrots - 38 is very old for a parrot in captivity. My vet says he only has 1 or 2 parrots in their 30s and he is the #1 parrot veterinarian in the USA. The Baby has a worn out heart. Chester has serious arthritis. They are 38 and 36 this month. I don't know how I will make it if they go - they have been my babies since they hatched. I love them SO much! Regarding boron, I got spoiled - I don't want to feel any arthritis pain. So I started taking one with every meal (3 times a day) and one before bed. That way, I don't have to deal with any arthritis or fibromyalgia pain. I read something by Douglas Johnson, a nutritionist who writes a lot on the FB page - and he said to take as close to 20 mg a day as you can for osteoporosis. If I take five a day - that's 15 mg. That's about as close as I want to go. I had serious problems with my jaw and hip when I was taking Fosamax - I am not willing to take any of that "bone-building" pharmaceutical stuff. After talking to a couple of dentists, it was the only choice I could see that made sense. Dentists see the bad effects of those drugs. It would be different if they worked. As you know, they only prevent the old bone from leaving the body, which makes it looks like your bones are getting bigger. But the moment you stop taking the drugs, your bones go back to the size they were before you started taking that junk - as you pee out all your "new" bone. Better to do the supplements, exercise, etc. That is what I believe. I am taking estrogen because my bones were so depleted after the pituitary tumor robbed me of calcium. Speaking of the pituitary tumor - I just got diagnosed with diabetes insipidus because of it also! At least they can medicate that so I don't have to get up to pee 30 times every night after I go to bed! I hope everyone is doing well on their journey to getting better bones!
