How did you manage the pain side effects of Prolia?
I had prolia injection a week ago. I've developed lower back pain and severe spasms. The spasms are so bad I can hardly get out of bed or even out of a chair. Is there anything I can do or take to alleviate this awful pain.

Thank you!
Yes. after fosamax I developed jaw necrosis. Lost 4 bottom molars. They just cracked and had to have them extracted. Will never take any of these drugs. I am on algae cal boost. Hoping it will help
@kay71 how awful. There should be post-marketing studies of these drugs done five to ten years out.
@parrotqueen, @kay71, I am so shocked at this behavior. I do feel that I am on my own also. There is minimal research on some of these options, that is always concerning.
I would have, should have, could have, done a better job of research myself. I didn't realize that most of the responsibility for the decision would be mine. I am learning so much from all of you. Keep the experiences coming. We are reading and learning and sharing. May you be content and at ease today.

@sue1949, I have just the greatest shock when I read things like this. At one point in my Boniva tragedy, I wanted all my teeth pulled, my jaws hurt so badly. And then it was my eye sockets....just couldn't believe the pain. You are a very brave warrior. Don't forget to share that again if anyone asks about that medication. Thanks and may you be free of suffering.

I set up the same kind of spreadsheet years ago! It is helpful to have this view of how things are going.
Are you getting vitamin K2 (mk4 mk7) and vitamin D3 and magnesium with your AgaeCal? The other thing about AlgaeCal is that it is not approved by ConsumerLab.com - a watchdog group for supplements. They say AlgaeCal has only got 87% of the magnesium they claim to have and also, there is an unacceptable amount of lead in AlgaeCal. Apparently, the calcium most nutritionists recommend comes from oyster shells. I am SO sorry you had that problem with Fosamax. This is why I beg people not to take these "bone growth" drugs. I talked to two women who had taken Prolia and Reclast the night before I was going to get Prolia and they had the problem you had! Bless your heart for speaking up.
Hi Parrotqueen,
I applaud your self care and research. I am medicine averse period unless it is life saving. I also did the research and before I take any new medicine, I read the contraindications and side effects. Therefore, I am dealing with osteoporosis by keeping as active as possible. When I sit I become stiff and sore and all joints work best if I keep moving. I love to dance all night and am more balanced and coordinated the next day. Amazing. It is easy to just sit, but the payback is ouchy. By keeping my muscles strong and tendons flexible I hope to keep those bones in place and protected. So that is my best solution. Drug companies and doctors don't like it.
Do other "bone meds" also not allow DEAD BONE to exit the body? I am on generic Fosamax, so far no problems, I am aware of. Have not had a bone scan since being on the med. I consulted 2 Orthopedic doctors before I started the generic Fosamax. Do notice popping in lower back when turning, twisting etc. Thank you for all you share with us.
@pattitoo how long have you been on Fosamax? More than one year? It's good to have a repeat bone density test done to see if the drug is doing its job.
