Complications/symptoms after Gallbladder Surgery

Posted by kalenkerby @kalenkerby, Oct 21, 2018

Hello. I am a Male 32. I had my gall bladder removed 4 days ago. Since I have had strange pains and feelings. Nausea after I eat Everytime. I realized after it's removal my stomach will have swelling, but it feels like there is a Large Knot just right of my Belly button. I also have had severe Hunger type pains. It's the only thing that I can compare it too. Very bad and painful pains that resemble Severe Hunger pains. I have also had headaches since the surgery. Mainly the right back of my head, it feels like there is a Knot under my skull almost. It doesn't hurt severely, but it does hurt sometimes worse than others. And nothing seems to help. Almost a throbbing pain. And of course pain across my entire abdomen. Top to bottom. Side to side. Which is to be expected I guess. But I have have more pain in my right chest and under my left breast off and on. What of these are to be expected and not?

Hi VIcki, i’m sorry to hear you are suffering. It’s very tough going through this. Has your doctor ran any test for you, bloodwork, ct scan, ultrasound to rule out any issues that might be causing your issues? I’ve had a ton of tests and all ok. I guess it’s just my body taking longer to recover and adjust to not having a gallbladder. Everyone is different. I’d like to hear of others who had prolonged issues/symptoms after gallbladder surgery and got better and maybe what has helped them get through it. It would give hope tha things will get better. I hope things settle down for you soon. Best wishes, Johnette

My daughter had her gallbladder out about 2 mo ago. Still having same pains as before . Back and stomach pain about 15 to 20 min after she eats anything. Has lost about 20 lbs since. All her scopes , MRI and everything are coming in normal. Not sure what is going on.

Hello, I’m new on here. In need of some help. I had my gallbladder removed 9 weeks ago and I am still experiencing some difficult symptoms and am not getting better. Has anyone experienced nausea, feeling lightheaded, headaches, unable to eat much and losing weight this long after gallbladder removal. The nausea lasts all day. I actually feel worse than I did before I had the surgery. My quality of life has changed and it’s hard to function. I am very fatigued and tire easy. I do try and stay positive and do my best to get through the day. I have seen my doctor and had tons of tests and everything comes back ok. I’m worried that I won’t get better. Please help as I’m trying to not become depressed.

I too am 9 weeks post surgery and experiencing the same things. I had an endoscopy and I now have Barrett’s from the gastric reflux. I can eat small meals of chicken or fish but nothing else. Have lost 27 lbs and deal with headaches and abdominal cramping everyday. I’m trying to stay positive also but it is hard when you can’t eat or sleep. I’m on Protonix and chlorastyamine which help a little. Prayers for you and your not alone.

Hello everyone. I am a little over 3 months of having my gallbladder removed. I am still really sick with nausea, sick after anything I eat, no appetite, I’ve lost 22 lbs, fatigued, I have pain where the gallbladder used to be. I’ve had an ultrasound, ct scan and bloodwork, all come back ok. My question is has anyone else experienced prolonged symptoms for months on after having their gallbladder removed? My doctors are not much help and say it’s unheard of for me to still be sick this long.

I, too, have ongoing pain in my ruq. It’s going on 3.5 weeks post op. It feels like ‘phantom GB.’ I’m on Omeprazole 40/day for nausea that started 8 days post op. I have no energy because of the nagging ruq pain.
