High Heart Rate / Slight fainting type of symptoms

Thanks for taking the time to read and reply.. 🙂

I am 34 years old and I've had High Blood Pressure since 21 years of age. I was given Benicar & Toprol. Those worked well, but I was in college and didn't eat healthy & drank excess alcohol like many students.

At 28 I went to see a new cardiologist since mine retired, and he took me off Toprol saying I was too young for it and didn't need it. Since then I've had high heart rate / palpitation types of issues.

The following things can trigger the high heart rate (100-120):

* standing up from sitting or standing up for more than few minutes
* eating medium to large meals
* walking short periods
* standing up from lying down position at times will cause light head

For a year I was on Lexapro, my cardiologist told me my issues were due to anxiety. I believe Lexapro did help me and I didn't have a lot of the palpitation and high heart rate issues. I got off of it after a year since I didn't feel like I had anxiety. But some of those symptoms are back now.

Has anyone taken Lexapro (anxiety meds) and have it help you with palpitations / high heart rate? I don't understand how eating habits, standing up that causes palpitations could be resolved by anxiety meds?

Also one more thing...

I just had an echocardiogram done few weeks ago and these were the results:
* Left atrial is at upper limit of normal size
* Mild mitral valve regurgitation
* Pulmonic valve - peal gradient 10 mm Hg may suggest mild pulmonic stenosis

The cardiologist told me to repeat the test in 5 years again, and I didn't need to make an appt with those results. But I plan on going to see him to talk about my high heart rate.

Should I be worried about these results at age 34?

Has your cardiologist ever considered POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome)? With that, your heart rate increases by at least 30 beats from lying down position to standing. Also associated with it can be an increase in adrenaline. Sometimes get labeled with just anxiety -- when there could be more to it.

Just to clarify -- it can include a component of anxiety.

I have not been tested for POTS but I will ask this at my appointment. Is this what people describe as having a tilt test for? I also have an apple watch, I wonder if could do a test at home (not for diagnostic purpose) but personal purpose to see what my heart rate is when laying down to standing up.

I wear an Apple Watch and run the Kardia heart rate monitor and instant EKG. My heart rate jumps over 200bpm without activity. It can happen while I’m sleeping, sitting or moving. But after a month it working stop so I am going with this link https://www.appletechnicalsupportnumbers.com/apple-customer-support/ to solve it. The reasons for sharing is if anyone has any issue with Apple gadgets to use this to solve it because life is more important than money.

@syntax2002 I'm 46, male, 6'1" 220lbs. I have the exact same issue and frustrated to the point of now making an appointment with Mayo Clinic to see if they can find a solution. I've been checked for dysautonomia and that was negative. My issues mostly happen at night. I sleep with CPAP machine. If I wake up during middle of night and move just slightly. And I mean, just slightly... An arm or leg. My heart rate shoots up way over 100+bpm. It then comes down to normal 60 after a minute. But it is concerning. My doctors have claimed it is anxiety but it is not. Last year it got so bad every night that it caused my heart to go into AFIB.

I also get the same heart rate increase for just little things. If I stand up after sitting for awhile I get dizzy too and feel major palpitations.

I've had two DVT and PE blood clots recently and an AFIB episode but this heart rate issue precedes all that.

I'm on Multaq for afib and Bystolic beta blocker and Xarelto.

I get something like that, except mine is low blood pressure with afib and mvp. Got the flu and was eating garlic (my favorite anti-virul), when I learned garlic can lower blood pressure. Got dizzy and got the flu. Go figure.

Yes, and I added cbd creme to my daily foods/vits/meds etc. and less anxiety, I think. Also, not related but thought I'd throw it in since we are a whole body, in my early 70's and eyes getting more fatigued, a friend was recommended a multi eye vitamin, I started taking it, wala, eyes feeling better. Go figure, does nutrition really matter? In my case, yes. Not that age matters. It's just a number. And more research being done on this too. Oooppss, off subject again.....

My chronic conditions have been teachers. Another words, no, I can't ski. Yes, I can read a great novel. Faced with what my mortal body can and can't do, I behave accordingly.

Good luck. I trust Mayo Clinic. The specialists talk to each other and talk to you for awhile.
