Using CBD/THC Oil to fight metastatic lung cancer

Thank you for the information that reads very positive for those of us that have SCLC. If my next scan shows any cancer progression I will definitely try Cannabis oil.

@lady1lake - Dr. Brown Nelson is an herbal "doctor". There is nothing that substantiates his claims that CBD oil or THC cures cancer. Medically there is no cure for cancer. We treat cancers. My trust in the medical field, which is science based, is based on years and years of proving theories that are factual, correct and work. There are so many people on line that would sell their first born to make a buck. I'm not saying this guy does but there is no scientific proof for his claims. It's the modern day snake oil salesman pitch.
Please be careful what you try, research what you read about and don't believe anyone who professes something that is seems to good to be true. Otherwise I have a bridge that I'd like to sell you.

Your concern & advice is greatly appreciated. So far I have followed the Mayo recommended protocol after going through many tests & biopsies. If worse comes to worse in maintaining control of the SCLC I would not hesitate to seriously consider cannabis oil.

Lady- I take CBD oil - It's great for calming and many other things. So many cancer patients are vulnerable and want cures that they believe that there could be. CBD oil, as you know, is new on the market. Very little is really known about what it can and can not do. I'm so glad that you are cautious and following and excellent protocol at Mayo!

Here is some of the current evidence about the effectiveness of CBD (cannabinoids) as anticancer agents

There have been recent news stories about the potential promise of CBD and/or THC oil and fighting lung cancer, such as these news stories:

However, you'll note that both articles are quick to point out that any potential positive effects have only been studied in petri dishes or on mice in a laboratory (in vitro). This is not the same as testing and discovering positive effects in humans. So far CBD/THC is still less effective than current drugs and dosages have not been tested or proven.

@joangma be sure to do your research regarding alternative therapies and promises of cure. One way to evaluate the claims of an alternate therapy is to look it up on the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) website https://nccih.nih.gov/

In the section "Health Topics A-Z" current therapies and conditions are listed explaining the most recent evidence, cautions and potential of future studies.

I was reading your posts and very encouraged. My Mom has stage 4 colon cancer. What dose of @ Cbd oil does your husband take?

My husband is using both CBD alone and with THC. We weren't given any suggested amounts by either our medical doctors or the medical marijuana clinic. I don't know if there any actual standards or protocols set for this. My husband is using a CBD oil of 1mg and a THC gummy of 25mg. I can't really help with specific amounts unfortunately. He supplements during with some additional CBD throughout the day via vaping (that is for the peripheral neuropathy in his feet). My husband is following the suggestions of the medical marijuana clinic. We started out conservatively and he is adding different products and amounts as we go, slowly, to see how it affects him. He has not experienced any negative side effects but we don't know if what we are doing with this is really the reason his cancer is slowing or regressing. He does have less foot pain (which is from a serious accident/injury from 50 years ago for which there is no treatment as well.)
I believe that anything one can do that seems to be helping and not hurting when one has cancer is worth giving a try. Everyone is different and I strongly suggest consulting with your doctors before starting or adding anything to your treatment. That said, two friends, one who cannot take narcotics and who is facing her seventh knee surgery is going to try marijuana to help with her pain and a second friend with pancreatic cancer just got medical marijuana and is giving it a try as an addition to treatment.
