Stage 3 Kidney Disease and Diet: What can I eat?
It seems there is very little you can eat that is healthy for the Kidneys. The web site Davida has plenty of food on it but contradicts what other sources say. Anyone know anything for breakfast, lunch and dinner that does not have any sugar or flour bodies the obvious boring or bland foods good for Kidneys and I’m allergic to sugar of any kind of sweetener and flour. Thank you.

@australia, Hi! I have enjoyed your posts! Yep, pain management was my nursing specialty before I retired, also had experience w/dialysis patients so am aware that about the only thing I can take for post-herpetic pain is hydrocodone v-e-r-y limited, no other NSAIDS and no other narcs - can't tolerate morphone and all narcs can accumulate when the kidneys can't filter them fast enough or at all. Gabapentin never helped my diabetic neuropathy so neph and I figured why throw it at what's left of my only remaining kidney if it won't work for pain post shingles. Now that the worst has passed (I hope!) my usual endorphine-release strategies are working again - deep breathing, meditation, distraction, interacting with my service dog. . BTW, nice to meet a fellow so-called "difficult" patient like me..
To Mikek206 from Georgia/Australia. Any book shop for sure.
Hi Kamama94 from Georgia/Australia. I would like to call "pain management department" --"pain elimination department " YES. !!! I thought that was the point of it. ?
@TonyHart87, Thank you for giving us more of a peek inside what you do professionally with Mayo. Hats off to all, whether professional staff or volunteer advocates, working to "spread the word" to others about Mayo's many services. Becoming a member of the Connect Kidney and Bladder forum has made the single biggest positive difference in my learning better ways of managing ckd. Nice to get to send a big personal TX Thank You for moderating this group in particular!
I second what TonyHart87 just said. Hats off, well done.
Just Trying To Stay away from all these foods that the Kidneys has a hard time coping with...
Hi dear darlingtondoll, from Georgia in Australia --Read the paperback Lifespan by David Sinclair of Harvard Med. School --Chapter 4. It is in layman's terms. The plan is on page 304. See what you think ?
The simplistic, genetic explanation for that is -- it increases the accuracy of the making of your new cells, because it put back into circulation in your body the "stuff" that you "used to have when you were younger that made you able to program cell division accurately and to repair cells completely and accurately when they were damaged. " Those are "near to" Davids's videos." He tell you how the body does it . Fascinating. I have lost some sensory nerves and I am hoping they are repaired. ???
I have told you I teach biotech and physics so I have done a lot of reading on his work. I am trying the program -- even though it is only in trial now at Harvard.
That is me. ?? If you ask your GP don't be surprised if he or she has never heard of it.
I want to think of "old age" without multiple organ and systems breakdowns. That would be nice. ??? I will take a before and after picture, YES?? I am 85----"What is that Movie? Back to the Future with Michael J. Fox. !!!
With your restrictions I would suggest speaking to a renal dietitian
Good news for a change. Despite shingles and yeast infection my renal function has climbed from eGFR of 24 up to 37, BUN and creatinine are down, A1C is 4.9 on almost no short-acting insulin, Hg has improved, everything else is normal or stable. I'll be able to get back to compiling the new recipes which include some things which we once were told to avoid or limit but which manufacturers and/or growers have adjusted to be more kidney-friendly.
not only did we try it and loved it, we went out and bought a new , largest, chopper/grinder cuisinart that is able to handle a whole cauliflour at one time with garlic, of course.
