Stage 3 Kidney Disease and Diet: What can I eat?
It seems there is very little you can eat that is healthy for the Kidneys. The web site Davida has plenty of food on it but contradicts what other sources say. Anyone know anything for breakfast, lunch and dinner that does not have any sugar or flour bodies the obvious boring or bland foods good for Kidneys and I’m allergic to sugar of any kind of sweetener and flour. Thank you.

@2011panc, sorry about the hiatal hernia. Wouldn't be surprised if that's not what's going on with me. Have appointments w/primary and neph in three wks so will follow up.
@kamama94 phosphorus and potassium are damaging to kidneys in large amounts, so they are monitored and suggested levels given to patients with kidney issues. You might want to ask your nephrologist (or your primary care physician) for a referral to a nutritionist knowledgeable in kidney issues. You may be doing okay, but you don't know how or why you are doing okay. In my opinion, "just ok is not good enough" and if I can do more to make things better I want to know about it. Blessings to you.
@kamama94 I was just surprised to find out that I had one. As I said, knowing that has relieved many of my concerns about symptoms that were otherwise unexplained. Knowledge is power as far as I am concerned.
Yes, I know. You might find my research interesting. My nephs and primary are now giving copies to their renal patients.

Oh, and blessings right backatcha!
Have seen the dietitian, who talked and gave me literature about the diabetes, but said very little about CKD and diet. So, back to my pcp and nephrologist. I do believe I've learned more from kamama than any of my doctors, and I've got a few. Thanks for your kind thoughts.
@kamama94 Thank you. I have already downloaded and scanned your document. Thank you for putting this together and making it available to us free of charge.
You worked very hard on this. Thank you for sharing.
Hi @teachaero, welcome to Connect. Both you and @2011panc have lovely scenery photos for your profile pictures, albeit different seasons. I love birch groves. Do you like hiking? Are you someone living with chronic kidney disease (CKD)?
I do love hiking and working out. I actually teach Spin classes at the gym and have neither high BP or diabetes, but both of my parents have kidney problems. I found out that I have stage three CKD two weeks ago. It has been upsetting, but I am researching all I can. I can’t get a nephrologist appointment until mid and late August, so I’m trying to make dietary changes on my own. Given three blood tests in June, my creatinine swung from 1.3, to 1.1, back to 1.3, so my GFR also moved between 49, then 60, back to 49. I’m optimistic that with some changes I can get my levels to settle at a higher point. I go from feeling ok emotionally to overwhelmed and anxious. I was glad to find this group and everyone seems supportive.
