Osteoporosis treatment or strontium citrate?
Is reclast a safe treatment for osteoporosis I have not done anything so far except strontium citrate?
***Director's Note:***
There’s not enough research to know if strontium fights osteoporosis. Also, the FDA doesn’t regulate supplements in the same way as prescription drugs, so it's not possible to know if if they are safe or work well or even how much of the main ingredient they contain.
If you want to take a strontium supplement, it is recommended to ask your doctor first.

@clarkedu I dont know the extent of your bone loss but there are things you can do without drugs.
Welcome to Connect, @clarkedu. It looks like you've done your research. I applaud you for seeking out experiences of others add to your evaluation of which drug might work for you. @lioness is right that much can be done without drugs, but sometimes progression is such that drugs are required in conjunction with lifestyle changes.

I was diagnosed with osteoporosis several months ago, but haven't started treatment. My Dr. doesn't want to put me on bisphosphonates because I have GCA and digestive issues. Someone on another forum posted this study and I'm going to run it by him. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/221793012_Combination_of_Micronutrients_for_Bone_COMB_Study_Bone_Density_after_Micronutrient_Intervention
@dawnmarie Welcome to this wonderful group .Im glad to hear about this research .I,ve had Osteopenia for more then 7 yrs.and I do follow all the Vitamin-Mineral that are recommended.Dont know where my other post went so this is a replacement
@lioness Thanks for the welcome and responding! I'm curious if you had any side effects from the recommended vitamins and minerals and how you found this treatment. I've been taking V D3, K2, magnesium glycinate and eating salmon without any issues. Don't want to add any more prescription meds to my long list.
@dawnmarie I haven't had any side effects . The Vitamin-Mineral are all naturel Ive been on Vitamin-Mineral s all my life I dont take the strontium as this is new to me so I just stay on what I know works for me but I also do wall presses instead of bench press this strengthens the back bones being active all my life Also like you I eat wild caught salmon no farm fresh fish 🐟.Since I have fibromyalgia my magnesium is higher of then most that I take.Old saying if it ain,t broke dont fix it.
