Small vessel ischemic disease plus epilepsy and migraines

Posted by niquinon @niquinon, Mar 5, 2018

Hello so I have been recently diagnosed with SVD and I am a bit confused as to what to do. I am taking medicaction for my migraines and seizures but I wonder what else I can do with my SVD aside from taking aspirin. I am extremely active and since I was just recently diagnosed I am at home until I am functional again. I am confused about all the information that I am reading, since I don´t understand what to expect or what to do. I am 40 and I have seen that this is not as common. Please if you have any advise I will appreciate it, because I am lost.

You ask good questions, @niquinon. I'm bringing in @venki @rakierin @soloact and @lhopper123 into this discussion to see if they have experience with migrainges and seizures in addition to small vessel ischemic disease.

Given that you've just recently been diagnosed with SVD, it must be all very new. What have your doctors advised with respect to staying active? You said you are extremely active. What type of activities do you like to do?

Dear Mam, With Small Vessel ischemic disease I am having severe headache i.,e Migraine headache for which i am using Paracetamol 500 mg. I know very well that it is not safe to use for a long time but for relief I am doing. My headache experience is no words to explain. But I don't have seizures. Iam having Neurological problems, Atrophy in Brain and Osteophorosis. Kindly tell whether I can take an MRI now. I took 10 months back. Whether there will be a change in the brain? Memory problems exist.

They have told me to stay active and eat well. I actually don't have high blood pressure or diabetes or am a smoker or drinker. They did mention to reduce my stress a bit but another told me to see how I manage with the medication and make a decision, since I have 2 jobs. I run... have done half marathons and am starting to train for another.

I am no doctor but you should mention this to your physician and ask them what other tests you can have done. I actually had 2 EEG . MRI and scan (not sure if it's cat scan the spelling)
