Wanted: Organ Transplant Recipients Who Have Been Hit By a Car

Posted by Rosemary, Volunteer Mentor @rosemarya, Feb 26, 2018

"Are there any transplant recipients of any organ who have been hit by a car? How did you recover? What helped you to recover from the multiple injuries?
I am posting this discussion question on behalf of one of our members,
@glinda who has recently been hit by a car and asked me to do it for her. Due to multiple injuries, she may not be able to respond right now and can read your messages.
Your support and encouragement will be appreciated as she recovers.

@glinda Sure hope you get those stitches out tomorrow! Itching is a worrisome thing. My thyroid medication makes me itch until around this time in the afternoon. I have started having several side effects from it. I have to take it and waiting for a call from endo doctor.
My day lilies are popping through as well as the yarrow and irises. The Red Wing Blackbirds have returned.
This is a photo of my favorite wrangle horse Top Cat whilst I was working in WY-in the 70's. Some wonderful memories from those years.
Take care and keep that positive attitude!!!

Your welcome and I will keep you updated on my progress just to let you know my progress may slow down for a bit because the rehabilitation center that I am at is closing permanently and my social work from my insurance Inclusa is working on another place for me to go will let you know when I move and start physically therapy there but am still doing physical therapy here until they close

@glinda, I am happy that you have people working on getting you another place for you to go. I hope there is one in your area so that your friends and family can still come by. We, your Connect friends, will follow you anywhere:-)

Glinda, Now that your stitches oar out, do you think you will find some itch relief? And do you think there will be a change in the PT exercises or will they wait a while?

Today is rainy here, but warm. I have been chilled all day because I took a friend to her colonoscopy procedure, and I dressed for 62 outside, but not for sitting in a cold waiting room with a damp raincoat. You would think I would have learned how to dress for medical buildings by now!

@parus This bluebird is beautiful. He looks real! I love the way you have his feathers ruffed up on back of head. Makes me think there is a gentle breeze.
We had some cardinals, robins, mourning doves, and a big noisy blue jay in the yard yesterday. This morning I saw a small something ( maybe a chickadee) perched under the cover of front porch hiding from the heavy rain. He sleeps there sometimes and my husband does not like him there because he leaves a mess. I have learned to keep quiet about it and let the little fellow take shelter when he needs it.
I'm thinking spring!

@glinda I so agree with Rosemary. We are getting packed and ready to move with you to your new location. I'm praying that just the right rehab center will be found for you where you will get the care and treatment you so richly deserve. I'm so pleased to hear of the good progress you have made!

I was not hit by a car but was driving while I’m a state of severe hepatic encephalopathy and waiting on my second liver transplant. I will attach the grizzly details of the accident if requested. I should not have survived but I did. When you look at the picture, I was in the gray Honda Pilot. I hit a parked Sherrif’s car going 55 mph because I lost consciousness at the wheel. I narrowly missed hitting a rookie officer on his first day on the force. Everyone survived. I had the worst injuries and was life delighted to University of Kansas Medical Center’s trauma ICU. Also just received my second transplant at Mayo Rochester on December 28, 2017.
