Also, while on the medicine I developed floaters in my left eye. I have been told by the eye doctor that my retina could detach if my head was ever shirked violently. I also developed a cataract in my left eye.

Everything happening to my body were supposedly RARE side effects from taking the drugs. BULLSHIT!

The nurse I saw continued to deny any side effects, thrush, pain on the legs, etc. etc. were not caused from the medicine!

She took a trip to Spain on me during my treatment. Not once did I see a doctor while being treated. They found the perfect lab rat when they found me. Too poor to have good insurance, can't see the doctor's i should be seeing on my income.

They can't help us anyway. Absolutely no one will understand the depth of what they have done unless they themselves were put on the medicine for a year at the highest dose!

I am very angry and will stay that way. The only way the anger will ever go awaybisvif I am compensated for their utter and total negligence. Not even being given a bone density test the entire year on treatment!!

It was all about them and lining their pockets at our expense. Isn't there an oath they take, "TO DO NO HARM!"

I took peg interferon and ribvirin for 48 weeks from 2002 to 2003. I was born with the hep C and transmitted it to my son. My mom almost died and had a life saving liver transplant in 2000. It scared me tremendously for her but also for myself. In addition,
I was in dentistry and left like I had leprosy. I knew in my heart that I desperately needed to kill this virus. I will say interferon has been the worst decision I have ever made in my life. I have suffered from extremely painful depression, anxiety, fatigue, hypothyroidism, food intolerance, and hair loss ever since. I turned jewelry black while I was taking the injections and perfume smelled weird on me. That is the least of my worries though.
My quality of life has been pure hell due to my mental well being. I would have rather have died from Hep C and had a short happy life than to suffer this anguish. If I received 100 million dollars for taking interferon I would have declined in a heart beat. I've never been the same. I lost my personality, joy, ambition , intelligence, energy...basically my whole essence of what it means to be alive and thrive. Now, I just exist in misery. I have tried practically everything to try and get help to no avail. Doctors and psychiatrists seem to think its all in my head. All I know is that I used to be super happy, confident, ambitious and fun. I have had to pretend to try to be a fraction of who I used to be. The mask is hard to carry. The pain of life has been beyond hard for 19 years. How could they have ever given this medicine to any human being? This is truly hell on earth.

JOLI, My Thoughts, prayers and blessings got out to you!
I know how it must feel as I have gone through some of the side effects of different medications! You keep asking why me! I thought doctors were supposed to help me not hurt me!
It really is maddening when you are given a drug and the doctor said you won't have any issues! Then you live throu Hell with similar side effects you have had! Then three years later you see an advertisement for the drug and then they list the side effects of what you went through but was not listed years before when you were given the drug!
Again my thoughts and blessings go out to you!

I knew two people who were too sick to take the medicine and died. And I had another friend who was smart enough to do research and refused to take the medicine, she also died.

I am a single mom who is just trying to stay alive for her sons. If not for them, I would prefer death over feeling like this every day.

The only time I feel half myself is when I have pain meds that help bring back who I used to be before the medicine. But they are hard to come by too in Seattle.

All the rare side effects. LOL. It said nothing about how they might last forever.

No doctor really cares. Not one doctor has asked to see the lab reports during the time I was on treatment.

It is all there in the lab reports proving their negligence, that is why they didn't want to give them to me.

Take care, write anytime.

Sue, So Sorry to hear about not being able to recieve the pain meds you need! I'm tierd of all the parinoia about pain meds. I'm very lucky that I have a PCP that understands their importance to those with chronic pain. As I have said before, in my state, New Mexico, pain meds are watched very closely! 1. They cannot be filled more than three days before the perscription it do to be refilled! 2. we have to take a Urine test every six months to make sure we are not abusing them or other non perscription drugs! 3. my doctor will not write a script over the amuont I take daily that he has perscribed!
Most people just listen to the "FAKE NEWS" by the media! Also the hospital addministration or medical addministration dictates to young doctors when they can perscribe the meds.
Sad!

Hi Sundance

Just got your message. Here in Seattle you cannot fill your prescription before your next dose is due, THE SAME DAY!

I am allowed only two 5 mg tablets a day which is laughable, but I guess better than none at all. We have to have a urine test monthly. I require more than 2/day.

I let the doctor's know how I feel about the bullshit. I am very militant in my attitude because my mom lost the will to live because of pain issues, and died at 67.

What's it like in New Mexico? I heard the cost of living is cheap there and you can live on hardly nothing, is that true? This paragraph was supposed to go at the end, oh well.

I have never heard of having to have a urine test every 6 months, I wish it was like that here. I do not feel that seniors should be subjected to all the bullshit because if you are going to have pain, it will only get worse as you age.

Take care
Sue

Sue, I thought our regulations were tough! You all make us look easy! Got my doctor to up me to 3 a day a couple month ago. On days when I don't have my pain episodes I only take two. So I have some in reserve when I need more than 2!
Like I said, three days before and Urine test every six months.
As for living in New Mexico I love it! Grew up in Phoenix hatting the heat! Have been here for 45 years! People don't understand ABQ is at a mile high, 5280' like Denver. But we are a high desert! We get around 9" of rain a year! No Bugs!
We have four seasons, mostly mild! As for cost of living I would say we are a lot less than you on the west coast! Right now I can get a gallon of gas for $1.89.
Housing is very reasonable and so are groceries! People complain about it being to high but have never been any place else!
When they in the country talk about integration and segragation I laugh! You have 5 different ethnic groups all living together in the same neighborhoods, shoping at the same stores.
The only bad about New Mexico right now is our governor! We have the tightest restritions of any state concerning the virus!
I also agree that is unfair about imposing rules on seniors. But in saying that I had an ex-wife and old girl friend who abused the use of pain killers. Both were known to take 10-20 a day! They are the ones who made the government to impose our rules on pain medicines! Both are now dead!
Keep me posted with any other questions!

@sueleerock You would prefer death over the way you are feeling and the only reason you stay alive is for your sons.

If you felt like you could not keep yourself safe who would you reach out to?

It sounds like you feel hopeless. Other than your sons do you have adults such as, family, friends, social worker, therapists, medical providers, etc. that support you?

Erika,
I had a good life before the medicine. I left home at 16, worked for the phone company, had two federal jobs, one state, but unfortunately, i was a job shopper never thought about aging or getting sick, thought i had plenty of time to save for a good retirement.

They told me i would feel better, get back on my feet again, get another good job, save for retirement. That wasn't to happen.

I now live in a dump, rent from the housing authority, and never have enough money. No doctor wants to see me because they know I am a charity case. I have numerous health issues and no real help.

I have no family left and growing up Navy, from stepdaddy dearest who left half a million to the church, I never stayed in contact with anyone, being in the Navy we moved every year.

I guess I'm thankful I'm not homeless. That's about it.
