Anyone have nausea with Trintellix?

Posted by nansmith @nansmith, Nov 1, 2017

Anyone have nausea with Trintellix 5mg? How long did it last? Been taking for almost 6 weeks and still have some nausea...will it get worse if I titrate to 10mg? Thanks.

I have a friend who has had amazing results with Trintellix for her depression. I have been on Celexa for many years. I can only take 10 mg because I have restless leg syndrome which I control by taking Gabapentin at night. Does anyone know how Trintellix affects restless leg syndrome.

You have taken Cenexa for some time. Is this to treat depression? You also take Gabapentin for restless leg syndrome. You are wondering if Trintellix affects restless leg syndrome.

May I ask how Celexa has been working for you?

Hi Erika, I have been taking 10 mg of Celexa plus 1 mg of Clonazepam to help with anxiety since 2010. I could never take more than 10 mg because it exacerbated my restless leg syndrome which is very severe. I suffered from spinal stenosis also causing me great pain in my neck area and was given Gabapentin 900 mg per day. I had an ablation procedure finally which eliminated my pain but I continue to take the Gabapentin once I realized it worked for restless leg syndrome and my severe symptoms return if I stop it. This pandemic has caused my chronic depression to ramp up. I tried to go up to 20 mg of Celexa but my legs flared up. So I cut back to 15 mg which I can tolerate and has helped but I battle keeping the sadness at bay. That is why my friend with chronic depression recommended I try Trintellix also. I am very reluctant to tamper with my Celexa because I have suffered so much my whole life with restless legs. My doctor is willing to work with me on the antidepressant but will not increase my Gabapentin which I don’t want to do either. So that prompted my question regarding Trintellix and restless legs. Thanks so much for your inquiry.

I've been taking trintellex for about 22 days now and all of a sudden have terrible nausea. Has anyone else experienced this delayed reaction?

You are having nausea but the side effect started 22 after you started the medication. You are wondering if any member s have experienced this as well.

You will notice that I moved your question to a previous discussion. I did this so you could more easily connect with members like @sls87113 @heidi1346 @marjou @lacy2 @kelster69 that may be able to help, in a central location.

It sounds like nausea is a common side effect. May I ask if your provider offered to prescribe anti-nausea pills?

Yes and it’s brutal. Still after a full week. Stopping can’t take it anymore

@sunshinestacy I'm sorry to hear that. May I ask what your provider has advised? Will they prescribe another medication or is there something they can do to lessen the awful titration side effects?
