Diagnosed with Isolation
A few years ago I had a social worker give me the diagnosis of isolation. Two social workers at a different psychosocial network say that I am isolated. I have only one close friend. So what? I have many casual friends. I am out regularly. People talk to me whenever I am out. There are so many people I know by face but not personally. Every time I go to 7- Eleven and the friendly people talk to me. Isolated is the least appropriate word to use for me. I only feel alone because I do not have a boyfriend anymore.
The next time my social worker asks me about feeling isolated or uses that word to describe me I will tell her isolated is the least appropriate word to use for me and tell her the other things I have mentioned. I hate the word isolated.

@daistone There is no solution to life. The Buddha said life is suffering, and the only way to avoid it is to accept impermanence and let go of expectations.
It's just an attitude you have to develop to look on the brighter side. May I suggest an app called "Curable" that helped me with chronic pain? It's great because it teaches you where pain comes from. It also has groups so you can socialize with other people in similar situations. It worked for me.
I have many wealthy friends. They are no happier than I am.
I also don't believe there's no solution for your teeth problems. Perhaps implants?
Have you explored the dental schools in your area? They might have charity programs or student programs.

1 Reaction@fhardaway1 Neck pain has slightly subsided but I'm still without much purpose or energy as of late. Got colitus because of my diet due to not eating right. I have sensory issues always have and dentures will not work for me at all. Losing alot of bone in jaw as well which is making it incredibly weak. I have an appointment with my dental college the 22nd. Its giving me hope and I hate it so much because hope usually doesn't seem to lead to any good most of the time. Hoping this might be a step in the right direction. But I just shouldn't be getting to content.
@lisalucier Thank you I'm sorry for the late reply I never got these notifications. I haven't improved in all areas but slightly in regards to my neck pain although still lingering. But now just got out of the ER which had me have to speak with others which is so humiliating. I currently have colitus although I may have to still see a gastrointestinal specialist if I don't improve with that. I dont really have any therapy experience outside of my suicide attempt at 16 and all that is super hazy to me. Also no and haven't had the motivation to speak with people not only because of the humiliation but can never eat enough to have enough energy.
@jenatsky I never proposed I was alone in this struggle and made no statements that would give off that impression. I do have health insurance as well and also dental.
@daistone I am so sorry you are struggling so. I do understand and empathize because I struggle with similar issues. Not intestinal but isolation and I am having serious dental problems due to a medication I take that stops saliva production

1 Reaction@msturcken Im sorry to hear that you're in a similar boat. It's really a terrible situation to find yourself in. I wish I could help everyone but I do absolutely nothing for myself. Unless it's to a point where I need an ER visit like a few days ago. I didn't say anything about my other issues because I may have an ego problem and hate expressing myself outside the internet. Also the humiliation of no teeth makes it hard to speak normally and I just end up not speaking up.
That is a word some people describe me as being isolated. Some people I choose not to be around. I do spend a lot of time by myself but it is not my choice to be alone so much. I’m seriously thinking about joining a senior club.just a thought.
Why is it not your choice to be isolated? I am the same way. It is my choice because that is how I feel safe. I am very fearful and I only know that by the tension and exhaustion I get when I am around people. It is not conscious. We all need to get to the unconscious abuse and pain to heal it or it becomes our fate. I am codependent from a gross childhood so fearful of people. Joining a senior club is a great idea. Facing your fears is the best way to cure it. I would also suggest you go to Codependents Anonymous online. I think you will find it very helpful.

1 Reaction@sallyo420 The reason I say it’s not fault is my wife of 33 years spends very little time with me if any. I have always been a social person and now things have changed. My wife just laughs at me when I tell her I’m exhausted and depressed so I try to talk to her anymore about things.
If your wife won't talk to you it is still your choice to do nothing about it. It is OK if you want to sit around and feel powerless not your only option. I think it is much worse feeling like a victim than empowering yourself and finding people to talk to. You also have choices whether or not to stay in the marriage. If you want to just stay home and do nothing that is also your choice which is fine. Just own it. That is on you, not your wife. I would suggest therapy and/or Codependence Anonymous. This sounds like some unconscious generations cycle you are playing out which can be changed. Change takes courage and strength and you can do it.
