@jerseyjim13 Love your life Jim , treatments are very good if you ever need them. I didn't have treatment for 21 years after diagnosis . Make sure to educate yourself and stay to date with what is going on with treatments . I am 5 years in remission after my first treatment . You can imagine the advances in treatment in the 21 years . You can't change it but you can live on and not let it get you down. Best wishes!

8 ReactionsWelcome to Connect @timmattheyer You are a breath of fresh air this morning! Love the uplifting, positive advice you gave to @jerseyjim13 with his newly diagnosed CLL. Having been through a cancer journey of my own, I’ve also learned it’s imperative to remain positive, always with an eye to the future, and enjoying every day to the fullest. Our diagnoses don’t have to define us. ☺️
So thank you for sharing your experience with CLL. That’s amazing you didn’t require any treatment for 21 years and when you did, it was quite successful. What was the treatment you received 5 years ago? How long were you taking the medication?

right now, because it wasn't in my blood. The last time we took the test.
However, I am coming up again for a new test. A couple weeks and we'll see

1 Reaction@shelli3300 I don't believe you will find a CLL specialist at Mayo that would recommend this approach, but I'm glad she is well. There is no data which shows Vitamin C supplementation treats CLL and there is some evidence glutathione may actually support CLL cell survival.
From Grok AI.
Question: Can Glutathione treat CLL?
No. Glutathione does not treat CLL, and raising it is not a therapeutic strategy.
CLL cells are under high oxidative stress and rely on glutathione (GSH) to survive, resist apoptosis, and maintain drug resistance. In the body they depend on bone marrow stromal cells to supply the cysteine they need for GSH synthesis (they have limited ability to take up cystine themselves). Higher GSH levels protect the leukemia cells; depleting GSH (for example with PEITC in lab studies) kills them and overcomes stromal protection.
CLL patients should seek the care and consultation of a CLL specialist. Even general oncologists often struggle to fully understand this disease and keep up with the latest research and I would certainly not rely on a Naturopath.

6 Reactions@tomatack, thankyou for your opinion..you say there is no data. I beg to differ; my mothers drastic improvement has suggested otherwise. This is the only data I am interested in, respectfully.
She is being followed by an Oncologist fyi and has been since day 1. This Oncologist states that she is one of the lucky ones....

1 Reaction@shelli3300 Well I'm glad to hear that. 30% of CLL patients have favorable markers and indolent courses (the lucky ones) which never need treatment, but the remaining 70% will have progression requiring treatment with proven drugs like BTK or BCL2 inhibitors. In fact, a fair percentage need treatment at diagnosis or within a year or two as I did. To suggest Vitamin C and Glutathione are somehow an effective treatment for CLL is irresponsible and is not supported by scientific evidence. Again, I don't believe you will find a true CLL specialist who would support your claim, but I am glad your mother is doing well.

2 Reactions@shelli3300 I've done a ton of research and just completed a clinical trial at Mayo Rochester under the care of a CLL specialist who only treats this one disease. I'm also a CLL patient at the NIH and participate in a study there as well. I'm confident in my knowledge of the disease and its treatment options and have read countless research papers. Can you please provide supporting scientific evidence (a research paper perhaps) which supports your claim? CLL is highly heterogeneous. While your mother may be in the 30% indolent category the rest of us are not. Stating unscientific facts giving false hope to many patients offering treatment options unsupported by science, or the CLL community as a whole, is unhelpful. Again, seeking guidance by a true CLL specialist at Mayo is a smart move, jumping on unproven supplementation is not.
Perhaps this CLL Society link will help

Vitamin D is the only supplementation which has some scientific support.
Or this one more specific
https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1155/2013/972913
"In many normal and malignant cells, increased GSH [glutathione] level is associated with a proliferative response and is essential for cell cycle progression"
Adding GSH may actually be doing harm.

Here is a small snippet of info for your viewing pleasure. There is tons of info out there. I won’t spin my wheels looking for studies because there are few. We know why too. Big Pharma doesn’t fund these studies because there is no money in it for them. They can’t patent a vitamin. This substantiates why there are few studies. This doesn’t mean that there aren’t great benefits for professional iv use.
Instead of attacking the great results and quality of life that my mother has been fortunate enough to receive, it would do you well to look outside the box for your ‘amazing’ claim to knowledge. There is info all over the place if you look.
I don’t wish to carry on with feeding your egocentric tantrum, as I am very busy taking care of my mom and have more important ways to spend my time.
Thank-you
I have read through all of the comments and just want to say please tone down your bristles and egos. Don’t get upset if people answer with their points of view. It is good to hear all sides then everyone decides for themselves. But continuing to flail each other distorts what this site is actually for… cool down
