Anyone taking Mirtazapine? Is it working for you? Any side effects?

Has anyone been taking Mirtazapine? Like to know if they have taken themselves off and how did you do it?

@armardi373 hi not rage but did feel weird and almost poisoned by aftertaste and dry mouth feeling groggy. I am just trying to stay off it but struggling even after only 3 months. Started 7.5 went up to 15 for a month but felt very Anxious and panicky - tapered back down to 7.5 then 3.75 stopped three nights ago but can’t sleep more than four hours and have hot skin flashes. Don’t want to return to it but GP does recommend at least six months and said I was stopping against medical advice. It’s a very potent antihistamine drug certainly you out but I don’t want to feel so drugged

@hoping25 Do not stay on it or go up. My doc tried to take me up from 15 to 22.5. I did not react well. Now trying to taper. Same doc has me reducing to 7.5 from 15. From what I have read this is too quick a taper. Have many side effects with tapering but want off.

Your GP needs to listen to his patients. Thats crazy telling you to stsy on it for 6 months when you have serious side effects. Tell him to go on it and suffer through the side effects for 6 months. It makes me so angry to hear that this happened to you. I couldn't take it either because of the same reason.I got off myself. Take care and get a new GP. God Bless

@kittyjohnson1964 Did you taper? If so how quickly did you go? My doc reduced my 15 mg to 7.5. From what I have read this is too quick. Thank you for any advice

I’m struggling on day 10 of remeron. How long would you give it? I’m having terrible side effects.

@mlpbob I would stop if side effects do not improve. I had side effects that I was attributing to other meds . I have vestibular migraines and Sjogrens .Mirt was to be helping with the anxiety from these chronic diseases. It is not easy to come off. So the sooner you taper the better.

I did not taper off of it i just got off of it. This psychiatrist who prescribed this medication did so ,so he could get me off of klonipin. Needless to say he had no clue to what i felt like. That medication made me a wreak. I ended up going to a neurologist and he told me there was no reason for me to get off of my klonopin. The only reason why i was trying to taper off of that one is because my Dr left the practice and the new Dr did not want to prescribe the klonopin so thats when i went to see the psychiatrist and he put me on the drug your talking about. Good luck to you. God bless

@maryking3977 I am trying to come off 15 mg. My doc has me reducing from 15 to 7.5. From what I have read this is too fast a taper. The side effects like muscle pain and headache have become intense.
