Recommendations for portable handheld nebulizers
Can anyone recommend a good handheld nebulizer?
So far my experience has been that they’re all pretty much the same and stop working after a too short a time. Thanks.

I bought for $99 w/rx from my pulmonologist The Pari Trek S portable nebulizer for a two week vacation trip and just loved it!! It comes w a light weight cute little carrying case and includes 2 Pari LC Sprint Nebulizer cups, tubing, and an AC or DC plug. You can also get for additional cost a battery pack if you will be away from a power source. I used vinegar to sterilize it which I know is not ideal and distilled water to wash and rinse it. Here at home I use the same cup and sterilize it using my Dr. Brown’s sterilizer without any change in shape of the parts and a family member uses the same LC Sprint Nebulizer and boils it without a change in shape too. For next time I will use the microwave packet to sterilize it but you’ll need a microwave obviously! Hopefully you can access the photos to see how portable it is.

1 Reaction@jerry22748 Jerry,
Good luck in finding a portable unit that’s available, reasonably priced, and lasts. I also used the “PARI Trek® S Portable Nebulizer System with PARI LC Sprint®: On-the-Go Therapy” but it stopped working during a trip (but several years of use), so I just bought an Omron NE-801 compressor w ac adapter to get by until we got home.
When I’m home I use the PARI Vios pro compressor for heavy use. It’s a work horse that has lasted 10 years! I replace the PARI LC sprint reusable nebulizer sets every 6 mo. Best, jessed

2 Reactions@sueinmn So the Pari uses a compressor and not mesh technology? Is it loud? I can't stand the noise of the nebulizer I currently have! Thanks for any info in that regard.
I LOVE the Pari eRapid nebulizer! It was expensive but since this condition is lifelong, it was worth spending the money. It is absolutely silent which is nice when you are watching TV and quick - 5 or 6 minutes to nebulize 7% hypertonic saline. I also have a Pari Trek which I used for several months before ordering the eRapid. It wasn't quite as fast as the eRapid but is a great backup device. Both units are small enough to use when traveling which is a plus. Thanks, Sue, for giving us your impressions of the eRapid!
@cjrice It uses a compressor to drive the mesh power head. It is so quiet the person next to you cannot tell when it is operating. And blazing fast - 3 to 5 minutes to neb 4ml saline or other medications. Cost is the only downside we have found. Pari says to replace the power head every 6 months but ours are over 1 year old and still work perfectly (2 of us use the machine with separatenebulizer heads) so the spare is just sitting on the shelf waiting until needed.
OMRON MicroAir Mesh Nebulizer NE – U100. This has lasted me for years. I’ve used Omron for 20 years.

1 Reaction@bluns002 Just goes to show we all have different experiences. My first one died in less than 60 days. Warranty replacement lasted about 4 months and both vendor and manufacturer said it was out of warranty. So I wouldn't be able to recommend it.
PS I see they now warranty for 2 or 3 years depending on where you look.
@sueinmn I appreciate all the information everyone has provided!
@bluns002 - I have an Omrom mesh nebulizer as a back up for travel..I purchased a few years ago to replace my Philips Innospire go...which is amazing...plus it still works...I am able to put the Innospire mesh heads (I have 3 to alternate)...in baby bottle sterilizer.
How do you sterilize the Omron? Thank you..
