Need to vent over scams and taking advantage of the vulnerable

Yesterday morning my husband “ who as been diagnosed with vascular dementia “ walked into the kitchen and started telling me about this amazing supplement endorsed by Bill Gates that could stop or reverse dementia, but it was really expensive and he was hesitant to try it. I knew immediately it was a scam, however I didn’t say anything because he just sounded so hopeful, at the same time my blood was boiling over people taking advantage of the vulnerable. After thinking about it for a while I decided to look up information concerning the ad so I could show him the truth, thankfully he accepted it and understood, but it got me thinking about all the other people that don’t have a advocate for them and they fall for these scams. I still feel so disgusted and angry over the hold thing.
I wanted to share to maybe prevent someone else from falling for this and to also ask has anyone else been through this and how did you handle it.

I am new to this Connect and thank you for it. I hope I post this in the right place. My husband was diagnosed with aphasia and now showing signs of Alzheimer's. A month ago without telling he fell victim to a scam with an AI film of Bill Gates touting a product called Memocept. He spent $300 on a box of these pills. There is a real product called Memocept but the ingredients on his order do not match. Again unbeknownst to me he took these pills for a month. How do I keep him from spending money like this. Yes, of course, I have taken away his credit card, but I am still very worried about this. Thank you. PS I find this site difficult to use and can't find out how to submit this.

My wife falls for all of them. She even gets “personal” messages from her favorite sports stars. So far she brings them to me for validation.

Thank you @akela09 for posting this vital information about scams that target people with MCI. My Mom is 87 years old with middle stage Dementia and thankfully my siblings and I taught her not to answer her landline phone if the caller ID is unknown to her. It is also a blessing that she no longer remembers how to use a computer. Sendings hugs and love fellow caregiver/warrior @akela09.
