Three lead ICD

Had my icd/pacemaker installed today. Have some mild discomfort but overall feel pretty good. Anyone have experience with three lead icd?
Also they gave me lasix today. I know it is often given to reduce stress on heart by eliminating fluid. In my case though, I was not retaining fluid. I’ve actually lost weight over the past couple of months (probably due to my intermittent hospital stays). Has me wondering the reason. I’ll find out when he comes by tomorrow during rounds.

Had a 3 lead ICD/Pacemaker since 2006. I am on my 3rd device and will have another one implanted within a year.

You just had surgery on the heart. It is going to take time for hear to calm down if you had the leads screw in versus static. Mine were screw in.

Your surgery site is going to aggravated also. Did you have your device put under your skin on under your chest muscle. My EP put mine under my chest muscle as the skin was too thin in area to do under skin.

I think sometimes EPs will stay with going under the skin even though the skin around chest is usually thin and like me was very thin. Going under he muscle is much more of surgery so you can see why they hesitate to go under chest muscle to implant it.

From your post are you in hospital now? Are they using ice on your surgery site? How about pain medication.

It takes about a year for body to encapsulate the device and the wires. Until then your body is dealing with a foreign device and is going to cause irritation. And just know you had surgery and with any surgery you will have discomfort.

Talk to your doctors about the encapsulation of your device and wires and how that helps the body accept the device and wires.

@jc76 Thank you for sharing. I got discharged today. They had me on pain med in hospital but didn’t call in a rx for me. I’ll just take Tylenol as needed.
They did screw mine in as well.
I’m going to have an av node ablation on September 9th

Might possibly have a 3rd leed added soon, Dr. apt soon. I was wondering about your comment about a av node ablation ?
