Has anyone noticed personality changes in kidney transplant patients?

After 30 years of marriage my now ex husband completely changed after 10.5 years of dialysis which I was he’s caregiver, he also developed drop foot and osteomyelitis which caused him to lose multiple fingers. he was transplanted in 2022. He’s become someone I don’t know. Has anyone else experienced this?

My husband had his transplant August 9th on a Wednesday. Everything was going well. We were preparing for release the following Monday. He was up and moving, eating well. Then he had a weird seizure, he coded. They got him back . Later that evening after a second surgery he needed to have his heart shocked back into rhythm. He needed a third surgery . Three surgeries in 4 days. They sedated him for about 6 days. When he woke he had symptoms of a stroke. I know this because he had a stroke in 1999. It took years of struggle to get him as close to normal as possible.
He is still in the hospital today. He immediately became combative, no compliant. Insisting he is going home( we live 3 hours from hospital). He is pulling heart monitor wires out. He wants to get up by himself but he literally cannot stand up without help. He went on a hunger strike until they told him they will feed him through a tube. They put an E-sitter in his room and now they have a guard in his room 24 hours a day so he doesn't hurt himself. He told me to get out a few times. After 21 days living in a hotel. Almost depleting my bank account I came home. He was rushed back to ICU because his heart beat was erratic and his pressure was so low they couldn't get a pulse. He is stable now. He now calls me every day from 6:30 am to whenever he gets tired ,just to either yell at me or tell me he's outside the door . When I do get him to speak to me, literally every word is a lie. He has become so mean. But the CT scan shows no sign of stroke. Then we found an article of a study that says that the immunosuppressant medications are the cause. The combination of prednisone and the other meds cause mood disorders, personality changes, depression, anger. A complete flip in his personality. Hallucinations and more. When I tried to talk to the nurse she dismissed me. I don't handle that well. So I sent the article to the doctor. The article states there are ways to reverse this problem. Even though these are forever meds, there are substitute meds for prednisone and one of the other suppressant meds. My husband and I have been together 43yrs. He is 61yrs old. He was happy and has or had a genius level IQ. He was funny. He would never do anything to get in the way of being released . He just is doing everything he can to get in his own way and be mean and hostile to me.
