Anyone had blotchy, itchy skin from PMR or from Kevzara?

Check the Kevzara side effects…..I think I had them when I first started with it. It went away. Note: I was not on any other drugs except prednisone at the time. Never came back.

@tweetypie13 Is it necessary to stay on prednisone when taking Kevzara? I thought it could replace it? Also, can you just switch to Kevzara without weaning completely off prednisone?

It’s best not to go cold turkey from Prednisone. My instructions were to taper.
Kevzara takes up to 3 months to kick in.
I was at 8mg, I think, when I started Kevzara, and by the time I was at the 3 month mark for Kevzara and it had fully kicked in, I also had tapered off of prednisone.
You want off prednisone so much, but you will unfortunately pay the price for rushing it, especially since Kevzara is not instant gratification.

Thank you for that information.
I'm at 3mg now (for only 2 days though, so far) and hoping I can stay symptom free. Perhaps now would be when I should be starting Kevzara...in conjunction with my taper-down of prednisone. I'm pretty sure my rheumatologist would be open to that. (This flare up of PMR has caused more side effects from prednisone...memory loss and irritably/anger being the worst of them. Hope these aren't side effects of Kevzara, also!)
Have you experienced side effects on Kevzara? If yes, what are they?

My dr wanted me on Kevzara sooner, and I resisted. Big mistake….what is your dr waiting for? Kevzara is suppose to help you get off of prednisone. Remember it is not instant relief,,it takes UPTO 3 months.

As for me, no side effects, and I have no other health issues. 80yo female, no other drugs either. Super active

I was prescribed Kevzara about two weeks after starting prednisone, due to extreme side-effects from the pred. But here we are some nine weeks later and I still do not have the drug! Seems the 'specialty pharmacies' keep passing my script around and no one delivers! Has anyone else had this problem or know how to solve it?

@sbgigi I had the same problem. I asked my doctors office to send it to my local pharmacy and they were able to get it to me within a week. As soon as the local pharmacy called me amazingly the Specialty pharmacy called me to say they were ready to send the medication. I told him too late. I was sticking with my local pharmacy. I just had my third injection of Kevzara , which means I’ve been on it for four weeks. I’m hoping I feel better once I’ve been on it for three months, so far I don’t feel better. I’m starting my tapering of the prednisolone from 8 mg to 6 mg today. I don’t feel very good to start with, so I’m hoping I can reduce with little change in that department!
I am very hopeful it will help me with the tapering, I haven’t been able to reduce at all. I’ve been on prednisolone, same dose basically from the beginning of 8 mg, since January of this year.

I haven’t experienced this before, but I do have itchy skin and rashes on my body.

my first thought is your prednisone taper is VERY BIG, 8-6 is 25%.
My dr said no more than 10% drop, that would be 8 to 7.
What is “not feeling good”? Is it PMR symptoms?
All the more reason to be no taper or slower taper.
Maybe even ask dr and hold off taper for 2 more shots.
