Has anyone experienced red blotchy, sometimes itchy skin on arms from PMR or Kevzara? Never had this before.

Thanks for your reply. Yes it is a big drop. You’re right. He’s prescribed 8 mg tablets, it’s very difficult to cut them in half and then cut them in half again.
I think I will wait to reduce, I’m not feeling well, by that I mean, I still have PMR pain. He thinks because my blood work doesn’t show any inflammation, that it’s OK to start reducing .
@ga29 I would do the same. You might be someone who needs to go up, before you go down. Next RX ask for it in 5mg and 1 mg.
I never dropped my dose until I was pain free for 3 weeks minimum.
Search this blog for posts abt tapering.
@ga29 I just had my 5th injection and 1 mg of prednisone. I have developed tiny little blisters on face, neck and chest and they itch like crazy. Anyone else have this. Oh and blotchy patches every now and then. Is this an allergic reaction?
@lovey77 read the paperwork that came with RX delivery and the Kevzara website
@sbgigi my dr ordered for me. My problem was (supposedly) I had to much insurance! What a joke! After talking to billing about how to FILE my insurance- the pharmacy came back and said because I had 3 insurances I would have to pay the copay‼️”OK”I should not have to but what is the copay ( so I could get started on the medication) (had been a month of screwing around). The lady calmly stated $1100.00🤯‼️I then said well I guess I am not getting that medicine. (Yes, I was furious)I said I have 3 insurances and I have to pay!! Well nope. I’ll let my dr know. Well they called me back and said they had made a mistake!! I didn’t have to pay anything. I just received my injection pens yesterday. Along with tons of paperwork! I’m going to start Monday. I did have to go with a company the insurance company stated, but I’m not paying.
Maybe check with your insurance company and see if they prefer you use a certain company. That might help.
Insurance is such a racket
Good luck

1 Reaction@ga29 I am on prednisone and kevsara. 5mg pred. Kev for 3 mos. Currently I have a stye and a sore gum. Not sure if I should hold off on my injection scheduled for today, and my taper for weds to 4 mg.
Don’t want the eye or gum to get worse. Advice??
@ll22 Probably the Kevzara has just started to kick in…..takes up,to 3 months. With that said, check the Kevzara website for side effects, or call the 800 number
I’d keep the Kevzara Schedule and make no chg to prednisone for a week.
And Talk to your dr.
@tweetypie13
I agree with your advice. I’m not giving any as I have only just started with these medications.
I just had my 3rd injection of Kevzara and it’s too soon to feel any improvements.
I reduced my prednisolone from 8mg. To 6 mg. 3 days ago, per my rheumatologist’s recommendation. Hope it’s not too much of a drop.
@ga29 easy peasy, if PAIN after a few days, go bck up for a few days. 8-6 is a 25% drop and that’s a lot at this level
