Anyone feel they made major life mistakes that are not forgivable?

I’m in my 60s and have realized I made major mistakes in my life that I cannot make amends for. I’ve always had a strong faith in God and feel now that God will not forgive me. I married a man that I did not love because I wanted to be married and have a family. I grew up an only child with no extended family and difficulty making friends. I thought love for my husband would develop out of our friendship, but it didn’t because of his anger issues. We have two adult sons. The older one barely keeps in touch and the younger one has undiagnosed depression and anger issues. I have seen a therapist who said I should try to forgive myself. I have tried to be a good wife and mother. I have prayed for forgiveness and admitted my mistakes. I want to pray to God for help but feel unworthy. Being Jewish, I have the belief in God’s attribute of justice as well as mercy. How can I move forward? How can God forgive me?

WHEN I START THINKING ABOUT ALL THE THINGS I DID WRONG IN THE PAST IT HELPS TO READ THE SCRIPTURES. THE PSALMS ARE PERFECT FOR THIS. KING DAVID DID SOME HORRIBLE THINGS THAT YOU WOULD THINK GOD WOULD HAVE A HARD TIME FORGIVING. HE HAD SOMEONE MURDERED SO HE COULD MARRY HIS WIDOW WITH WHOM HE HAD COMMITED ADULTRY WITH. WHEN DAVID FINALLY FACED HIS SINS HE WROTE SOME OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PSALMS EXPRESING HIS SORROW, AND REGRET OVER WHAT HE HAD DONE. HE ASKED GOD TO SHOW HIM ALL OF HIS SINS, AND ASKED GOD TO PUT IN HIM A CLEAN HEART. YOU'VE PROBABLY READ IT. GOD CALLED DAVID A MAN AFTER HIS OWN HEART. IT IS CLEAR IN THE SCRIPTURES THAT GOD FORGAVE HIM. YES DAVID HAD TO SUFFER SOME CONSEQUENCES HAVING THE CHILD THAT WAS A PRODUCT OF HIS ADULTRY DIE. BUT BATSHEBA AND DAVID THEN HAD SOLOMON. NOW SOLOMON WAS VERY BLESSED BY GOD, AND EVEN THOUGH HE MADE A LOT OF MISTAKES OF HIS OWN, INVOLVING TOO MANY WIVES THAT LEAD HIM TO SIN AGAINST GOD, HE TOO WROTE SOME VERY MOVING THINGS THAT WOUND UP IN SCRIPTURES THAT INDICATED HE TOO REPENTED. ANYWAY, WHEN YOU THINK OF THESE THINGS, IT IS HARD TO FEEL THAT GOD CAN'T FORGIVE YOU FOR ANYTHING YOU HAVE DONE. I SUGGEST YOU FIND AN UNDERSTANDING RABBI YOU CAN TALK TO AND LET HIM HELP YOU THROUGH THIS. ALSO DEVOTING AS MUCH TIME AS YOU CAN DOING WHAT YOU CAN TO HELP OTHERS IN NEED. THINKING ABOUT THOSE WHO ARE IN NEED CAN HELP KEEP YOU FROM FOCUSING ON YOURSELF AND YOUR GUILT AND REGRET FOR PAST DEEDS, THINGS YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT NOW. IN OTHER WORDS, YOU DID WRONG IN THE PAST, BUT YOU CAN DO GOOD NOW. BUY THE WAY, I AM A CHRISTIAN WHO READS THE WHOLE BIBLE. SHALOM!

@mariannewmoon

Please don't use all caps. It is very distracting. Thanks

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT SHOULD BE DISTRACTING. CAN YOU EXPLAIN THAT? I USE ALL CAPS BECAUSE IT IS EASIER FOR SOMEONE LIKE ME WITH POOR VISION, TO SEE.

@mariannewmoon I was thinking of stating the same thing, but I felt certain you'd come back and do a better job.....IN CAPITALS. 😀

I understand your situation. I have my own having to with sight and perception. Thank you for clarifying. It was not intended as a personal attack
Sometimes this is considered shouting in online postings. It is also part of our community guidelines. But yours is a special issue having to do with vision impairment. I didn't see all caps in some of your other posts. Take care

@gravity3 No problem, I didn't take it as an attack. I heard that somewhere else that it is considered shouting, and I could never understand that either. I don't always use caps, sometimes my eyes don't bother me as much. The longer I am on the computer the more my eyes hurt. Actually, I should be using caps now as I have been on here for hours and my eyes do hurt, but I didn't start it with caps and I'm not going back now. I just noticed when I don't use caps the text seems blurry, and I have to strain to read it. So, I just hope no one else is offended by caps, I will be using them again. But thank you for letting me know about that "shouting" thing. You take care too.
