Has anyone not used medication after First Dexa scan spine -2.8?
I am 57, 5'2" and 110 pounds and have just had my first DEXA scan spinal -2.8 osteoporosis, femoral neck and hips -1.3. I exercise and eat well. I did go through surgical menopuase at 50. I have a blocked LAD artery and use injections of repatha for this. I am giving all these details because I really don't want to start any of these medications and wondering if anyone has ignored pressure from doctors, all of mine are encouraging Reclast. I am scared and tired of looking at all the pros and cons of everything. thank you in advance

@osteopatient2026 How Shilajit Protects BonesShilajit is a nutrient-dense mineral resin that acts on skeletal health through several biological pathways:Mineral Transport: Shilajit is exceptionally rich in fulvic acid. Fulvic acid acts as a natural "nanotransporter," binding to minerals like calcium and magnesium to drastically improve their absorption through cell membranes into bone tissue.Cell Regulation: It promotes the proliferation of osteoblasts (bone-building cells) while optimizing the RANKL/OPG protein balance to slow down osteoclasts (cells that break down bone).Collagen Production: It positively upregulates genes responsible for creating collagen, which forms the flexible structural scaffolding inside bones.Oxidative Stress & Inflammation Control: Estrogen deficiencies cause a spike in systemic inflammation that weakens bones. Shilajit lowers inflammatory markers like

I see the claims …sounds interesting but I don’t see any mathematical numbers indicating before and after studies. Maybe there will be some soon.

I haven't seen the science. Is there anything legit that would back up the claims? Perhaps I missed it.

@dvargo
Could you expand and explain this? From what to what did you go in what period of time doing what?
My TBS score came back normal so it put my total fracture risk quite low. I have decided to not take the medicaiton now and work on nutrition and exercise for the next year. My dr still advises medication but I am waiting a year.
@rmasters
If your doc doesn't do bone markers so they can be referenced during that year, you can private pay for a dexa. I understand that they are not terribly expensive.
I wonder if you will be able to start with an anabolic if you choose to start medication? Good luck. Please let us know.
I don’t get it. What am I missing?
Your first post asked
Has anyone not used medication after First Dexa scan spine -2.8?
Now you stated it was normal?
I have resisted all of those medications and use diet and exercise. I also have a estradiol patch (smallest dose) with micronized progesterone.
