Has Anyone Tried the New drug Ibsrela for IBS-C ?

Posted by phxbarb @phxbarb, Dec 19, 2025

I saw that it was approved for adults with IBS - Constipation. I am always looking for new and improved drugs for this condition that I have had all my life. Painful hard rock -like stool with cramps and long-term occurence. So tired of it. Today the usual cocktail of laxatives did not work for me. So miserable and hoping for relief.

It looks like a white bullet. It’s metal and inside is a battery. You swallow it after it is turned on in a pod. You take it 5 out of 7 days. It turns on when it gets to your large intestine and it starts vibrating which stimulates peristalsis which is the natural muscle lime movement in your intestines. I have greatly decreased peristalsis. Taking this has greatly improved my constipation. I do pay for it out of pocket. It can cost over 200 per month. I pay 189 a month. I’m on Medicare and they do t cover it of course. It contains no medication just a battery hence you can not have an MRI . If MRI needed you need to take lots of laxatives and lots of water to pass the pills, may take a few days and then and the take an x ray to see if no capsules are left in your intestines then you can have your MRI. I wear a medical bracelet that says NO MRI!

Thank you for this explanation. I have never heard of this device and my gastro physician never suggested it. I will pursue it.

I am so grateful to you. I sent information and the ordering website to my gastroenterologist.

He is now in touch with a company and will be submitting an order for a start kit and then a refill kit.

It's worth a try and thank you again so much for mentioning it as response to my post.

I’ve got Parkinson’s disease with IBSc, Gastroparesis, and a lot of other Issues. I’m on a plant-based diet low FOD nap,.
I tried and failed Amitiza, Linzess, Motegrity, primarily due to side effects Of extreme cramping bloating, And abdominal pain. I started ibsrela A week ago and I’ve been taking it just before my first bite. I typically sit upright for three or four hours after any meal before I lie down. Almost immediately, I get severely bloated with intense upper gastrointestinal discomfort.
It’s probably the gastroparesis and the Ibsrela Doesn’t seem to be working with it. And also taking MiraLAX, but cut back after I started the ibsrela. It hasn’t helps with respect to my constipation, and I have not had a bowel movement spontaneously and quite some time. Had to resort to daily or almost daily enemas. about all the ibsrela is to increase my farting. Perhaps that’s a start But the intense epigastric bloating Every night at bedtime doesn’t seem to be worth it.
