Anyone tried Shilajit?

Even if a supplement has some benefits…generally it’s not enough for osteoporosis I’m finding out.

@kjhill I'm not familiar with Shilajit. Is it a supplement and if yes, where did you learn about it? How is supposed to be helpful for bone density.

I agree with with @osteopatient2026. With my own journey of osteoporosis, I did everything possible with diet, calcium supplements and weight lifting. It wasn't enough to bring my bone density up and so I added the medication (Evenity then Reclast) recommended by my endocrinologist. My bone density is now greatly improved.

@naturegirl5 im just completing Evenity and soon to take reclast. Im concerned about side effects with reclast one person noted on this forum. Did you take any special precautions or preparation to receiving reclast. I read joint and neck weakness and stiffness long term. Any experience you can share would be appreciated.

@mybones1

Please go up to the top of the page and in the 🔍 type reclast prep or reclast . There is a protocol that people use for pre infusion prep.

@mybones1 I took Tylenol prior to the Reclast infusion and was well hydrated. These are the only precautions I took. Unlike some reports I did not have any flu-like symptoms or fatigue after the infusion. It's been more than a year since the infusion and I do have stiffness in my lower back and hips however I was already diagnosed with osteoarthritis so it's difficult to know at this point whether the stiffness in my joints is due to the advancement of arthritis or the Reclast infusion. I'm going to ask my endocrinologist that very question when I see him again in December, 2026.

Anyone tried Shilajit?

I was advised by 3 physicians not Americans to take shilajit for my osteoporosis.
The problem is to find a real one.

@naturegirl5

Thanks Helen. I may get off Prolia using reclast. I was also told that asking your endocrinologist to order a long infusion with a saline drip added.
I often wonder if we shouldn't expect some aches and pain because the meds are doing ...what seems to me...the heavy lifting of remodeling our poor bones.
