Another R-ALA question

Posted by ronludington @ronludington, 9 hours ago

i've been taking R-ala for a couple years now and it definatly does help. What I'm asking is, how much you take ( I use 300mg twice a day... 10 AM and 6 pm) I've read that anything over 600 a day doesn't make much differance.
Also, it's hard to know what brand actually gives you what it says. I use this one from Amazon, but again who knows if it really is a good one. I get bombarded with adds for other types.
What brands do you use ?

@ronludington How do know this supplement is helping? What was your pain level(1-10) before taking it and what was it, say, a month starting it? Thanks.

@heisenberg34 I was starting to get needle sticks in my toes, sheets couldn't touch my toes without pain. Sunburn or cold on bottom of feet... That went away when I started the r-ala. I still have some sunburn type feeling on the bottom of my feet but that is pretty much only when I walk a lot.

I have the burning and tingling but no pain at night when I put my feet up. Since starting ALA it got better but adding Magnesium really made a big difference. I also us a cream on my feet and lower leg at night before bed. It's so much better now.

Still looking to see how much you all take, and what brand.

That looks like a great choice.

How much value is ALA if your neuropathy isn't painful? For me it's numbness in my lower legs along with a heavy feeling. I have muscle loss in the right leg from nerve damage from being pre-diabetic. That pretty much happened while I was having mobility issues due to goings on in my lumbar spine area. I'm not sure which condition begot the other since there was a period of several months during which I was essentially unable to walk without great difficulty. Right now I'm in the process of trying to wean down [but not off of] PreGabalin so I suppose it would be a matter of taking it and seeing what happens, tho I'm loathe to take any until the weanig is done.

@bajjerfan you sound like me, my right calf is half the size of the left. And same back issues and diabetic. Pmr is in the mix also. Was on prednisone for 8 years (for pmr),finally off of it. But on kevzara. But my leg weakness (heavyness) and muscle loss... who knows which thing did it. As soon as any Dr sees diabetic.. well that's the cause. (Could be from back nerve compression, or prednisone side effects, or the pmr, or diabetic) But the r-ala is suppose to help with the nerves, along with benfotiamine. It has stopped my needles in the toes, so I keep on taking it. Again just looking for others and what strength and brand they use. (I also use decompression for my back issues, as I refuse to let them cut me open)
