Another R-ALA question

Posted by ronludington @ronludington, Aug 8 7:54am

i've been taking R-ala for a couple years now and it definatly does help. What I'm asking is, how much you take ( I use 300mg twice a day... 10 AM and 6 pm) I've read that anything over 600 a day doesn't make much differance.
Also, it's hard to know what brand actually gives you what it says. I use this one from Amazon, but again who knows if it really is a good one. I get bombarded with adds for other types.
What brands do you use ?

@ronludington Here is the one I take. I had some intense pain for a couple of weeks, about 18 months ago, switched to R-ALA from ALA, and the pain is 95% less frequent.

@allessio77 good news when did the pain start to abate when you started the R form?

The research that I’ve seen does claim that the dosage is 600 mg per day although trials have been conducted at 1200 mg per day. Here’s a paper showing these tests.

Was taking same 600 day
Still cannot find consistent dose recommendations.
Was not unequivocally noticing significant difference
Unsure whether to resume?
Idiopathic
It's not been studied with Diabetic.
So still at a loss

How much value is ALA if your neuropathy isn't painful? For me it's numbness in my lower legs along with a heavy feeling. I have muscle loss in the right leg from nerve damage from being pre-diabetic. That pretty much happened while I was having mobility issues due to goings on in my lumbar spine area. I'm not sure which condition begot the other since there was a period of several months during which I was essentially unable to walk without great difficulty. Right now I'm in the process of trying to wean down [but not off of] PreGabalin so I suppose it would be a matter of taking it and seeing what happens, tho I'm loathe to take any until the weanig is done.

@blowerk1216 The pain subsided in a couple of weeks. It should be noted that I also took some other measures> I began using a spiked peanut shape massage ball before bettime, did some foot exercises, and starting using a Frankincense and Myrrh lotion. But I think the supplement may have been the most important factor.

What I wonder , and I don't see any reports on ut, do you split the 600 into 2 and take like I do, 300 at morning and early evening, or 600 all at once ?

@carolynpatten to bad there doesn't seem to be any that are usp verified. There are 3rd party verified, but who knows if you can trust that.

@ronludington Good point - I can’t find any that are USP certified, but just ordered some from California Gold on the IHerb site. This clearly shows its third-party testing certificate.

I was on 75mg 3 X per day, currently trying 50mg 3 x per day. So far seems to be ok. Will try 25mg next and maybe get off of it completely.
