Septal Alcohol Ablation
I am going to have a Septal Alcohol Ablation in September. Anybody have this procedure? Would appreciate hearing about your experience and outcome.

HI @mummy12 -Where are you having your ASA? Are you having it at Mayo Clinic? How old are you? Were you evaluated for myectomy as well?
ASA has been reserved for older patients or patients who are not otherwise able to have septal myectomy, but there are doctors who have been advocating to open up the indications to younger folks.
Ablation is really suitable for those patients who do not also need valve repair and whose septal anatomy is amenable. Your septal perforators need to be located in the right place or else the alcohol won't hit the right place.
I am having the septal ablation at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N Y. Dr. Srihari S. Naidu is the Interventional Cardiologist doing the procedure. I was evaluated at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Mn. last Sept. by Dr. Stephen Ommen and he recommended alcohol septal ablation because of my age. I am 80 y.o. I recently had a cardiac cath (Dr, Naidu) and I have no blockages and my mitral valve does not need repair.
I hope that you have good success with Dr. Naidu. I have heard others speak highly of him. If Dr. Ommen recommended you get an ablation, then I am confident that you are having the right procedure. I wish you the best of luck.
As I understand it, with ASA, the results are not always apparent right away as the muscle continues to shrink for some time.
Thank you for your good wishes. I will report back on the outcome of my ASA in the future. I have the utmost confidence I Dr. Naidu.
Pliz tell me what do you mean by future.
Madem.
I wish to be treated in US mayo clinic of hughest repute.
I don't and I can't compell the doctor for this or that procedure. Whatever therapy or medical procedure is suitable for me as per diagonostics, has to be followed.
But I am serving here in Pakistan as government officer and my department has to bear the cost of my treatment over there, thats why U request to give me probale estimate with plus minus so that I can cash it from finance department in Pakistan and able to travel to US.
Regards.
