Anyone here dealing with peripheral neuropathy?

@janeiswelsh5499 Hi - AFO stands for ankle foot orthotic. I have drop foot due to numbness and the AFO keeps my foot, lower leg and ankle almost at a 90-degree angle eliminating the slapping of the foot on the floor when walking providing a more natural walk.

I just watched a L-O-N-G video about a supplement called BackBiome. It’s supposed to be an OTC alternative medicine for Gabapentin.
I’ve been on Gabapentin for years with no relief from tingling and numbness, my main complaint. Thankfully, I don’t have much pain - just this awful numbness with severe imbalance. I’ve always been active, but now I’m in a wheelchair, strictly due to the numbness and lack of balance.
As you might have guessed, BackBiome is a bit pricey but if it’d help me get out of this wheelchair, it’d be worth every penny.

Neuropathy for about 10 years - idiopathic, no known cause. No pain to speak of but much back pain, recently alleviated by steroid shot. Less pain has not improved my leg weakness or unsteady gait. New neurologist is doing extensive testing to identify cause but I won’t be seeing him until June. My own diagnosis is that a fall I took many years ago injured my back and put pressure on my spinal cord leading to neuropathy. It doesn’t matter because it is too late to do anything about it. I will just do the best I can and be grateful I am not in great pain. I agree that the worst part of neuropathy is the trouble walking and for me, standing for more than a few minutes.

I would not buy it based on what I have read.

I went into three hospitals in 2025. Was at the VA in Houston from April 3rd until December 23rd with septic shock syndrome. They found the multiple myeloma then and since I was out of it and didn't understand what was happening to me they tried a new drug called Valcade which did stop the cancer from spreading but also caused PN from above my knees down to my feet. I have mostly numbness very little shocks or pain. I'm in a wheelchair now. I am on a different treatment which has no neuropathy side effects. I wish they had used daratumumab first.

Forgot to mention the myeloma messed up my kidneys so I also have to participate in dialysis. I hate cancer.

I have cervical radiculopathy, so my problems emanate from my neck. Most likely a pinched nerve.
I have stinging pain in my upper back, underarms and sometimes arm and leg areas. Just started Lyrica 25mg. Once a day for now. Makes me so sleepy though. I don't know how I will ever increase the dosage. Anyone have any luck with Lyrica?

I got the shingles in 2021 from the right side middle of my chest and wraps around to my back.and it includes under my arm pit down to my elbow . The pain is intense it’s all day and night tried many pills patches even a shot in my neck nothing helps and it’s driving me crazy , has anyone heard of bee venom helping?

Yes, I am dealing with Neuropathy had it 1st in my feet from chemotherapy 20 years ago, the Dr. changed my cocktail to different medicines, it never got to bad but, never went away. The second time started 5 years after finishing treatment, this was tingling in the tips of my fingers of my right side, which was also the side my Breast cancer was on. This started 20 years ago, it got steadily worse, I also had had a cervical spinal fusion about 2 years later. I have been told that I have Kidney Disease no symptoms this limits which medications I can take. That was all 15 years ago, it’s been a long journey trying to find out what was wrong. I have torn rotator cuffs in both arms for the second time, the muscles and tendons have retracted down my arms. One year ago the fusion plate was taken out of my back and a rod has replaced it going further down my spine. The original plate was found to have compressed two nerves which is probably the cause of the neuropathy. I am a little old lady that still has a lot to do and still have fun with family and friends.

I'm in terrible pain now and electric currents from my knee on down. Terrible pressure from numbness on my feet. My knee is now locked up making it hard to stand and walk. I am getting worse EVERY DAY . This is not a slow process for me. I t had been slow, but now the neuropathy is galloping daily. I cannot get in to see a doctor and they have NOT helped me in the slightest. IMO they can take all these neuropathy depts and these high-paid "doctors" and shove them. Anyone with any advice????
